Is it necessary to eliminate natural sugars in my meal prep to lose weight?

I have type 2 diabetes and I am constantly on the watch for my blood sugar. I want to tone down my figure and I want to try the meal prep route. My dietician suggested incorporating fruit into my meal preps, but I'm wondering if natural sugars can cause me to gain weight.

Natural sugars will not make you gain more weight. Unlike processed sugars from cereals and sodas, natural sugars will even help you shed some weight. Research even suggests that your potential for shedding weight increases as your fruit consumption increases. So by all means, incorporating fruits into your meal preps will help you lose weight.
