If I have type 2 diabetes, should I increase my protein intake to lose weight?

Asked 2 years ago

I am a type 2 diabetic with a tendency to be overweight. I'm a big fan of everything steak, and I've been eating all kinds of meat without much thought. I want to lose weight, and my dietician recommended that I eat leaner cuts of steak. I'm not sure if focusing on protein is the best way to lose weight. Should I be concerned?

While there's no cause for concern, it's not the best idea to focus on any food class, not the least protein. The best way to lose weight is to eat the right combination of healthy, unprocessed foods; balancing the intake of all classes of nutrients and refusing to starve the body.
