Do I need to swap carbs when planning my meals as a diabetic to lose weight?

I was recently diagnosed with type 1 diabetes and have been working hard to control my blood sugar levels. I enjoy eating whole grain bread and pasta, but I've noticed that my weight has risen. I want to start meal prepping with weight loss in mind. Should I remove carbs entirely?
