Can I eat fruit and protein as a snack to help me lose more diabetes weight?

I've had diabetes for a few months and keep a close eye on my weight. I want to change my eating habits. To kick-start my weight loss, a friend suggested I try meal planning. I enjoy small amounts of fruit and meaty snacks and wonder if it is best to mix the two for weight loss gains.

Proteins and fruits are highly recommended for weight loss. While proteins boost your metabolism and have high satiety, fruits are high in fiber and low in calories. You should plan to incorporate them into your meal plan, although choosing to combine them as a snack depends on your preference.
