Does not eating protein slow down my metabolism?

Asked a year ago

I am in my early 30s, and I have noticed that my metabolism is a bit slow. My dad suggested that it might be because I don't eat a lot of protein, which can slow down your metabolism. I am curious if there is any truth to this. Does not eating protein slow down your metabolism?

Not eating protein does not slow down your metabolism. However, failing to eat enough or placing yourself on a diet slows down your metabolism. On the other hand, eating more protein can boost your metabolism as you need more calories to break down protein within the body.
