Is it true that you can lose muscle as you get older? Answers welcomed!

Asked a year ago

So I've been wondering about this question for a while and wanted to hear someone's thoughts! Do we lose muscle as we age? It seems like as we get older, our bodies just don't function the way they used to. Is muscle loss something that's inevitable with age, or can we do something to prevent it?

Age-related muscle loss, though daunting, is a very natural part of aging, that usually starts to occur after the age of 30. This involuntary loss of muscle mass, strength, and function does steadily decline as we age but there are ways to slow down this process! Staying fit and healthy (with a rich in protein diet), body weight exercises, planks, etc., does wonders for our physique. It is entirely possible to increase muscle strength with exercise as we get older!
