I have been doing this healthy way of eating for five days and lost 2lbs. The redness in my face is gone, the bloating in my hands, face and feet are all gone.I have more energy and I feel good to prepare and cook for the family. I do not consider these foods expensive because I know people spend way more money on food addictions than on healthy food. Feeling happy and satisfied.

I am a little confused about some of the food . In your 5 things not to ever eat —wheat and corn are on that list- but wheat and corn products are in the menus – what is what? Help–bconn1945

Hi, dragon_tango. That would be me :). We like you to post in the forums so that everyone can benefit from the points you bring up. The following are the answers to your questions:
1. Yes, peanut butter (and other nut butters) are encouraged, but try to get the types without added sugar or hydrogenated fats.
2. You can flavor your water with squeezes of fresh lemon and lime juice and infusions of berries or cut fruit herbs such as lemon grass and mint (see tips in this recipe: https://www.trimdownclub.com/recipe/crystal-punch/). The following is a guide for choosing sweeteners: https://www.trimdownclub.com/the-best-way-to-sweeten-your-tea-2/.
3 – we actually don’t recommend aspartame (because it can work against your efforts here), but there are others that can fill that need (monk fruit, inulin).
4. Each person has a different amount of fruit that is factored into their nutritional needs, and you can see this by clicking on “Exchange view” in the toolbar above your finished menu. If you want more fruit, you can substitute the extras for carb exchanges (if you would like more guidance on this, please do repost).

These really are great questions – shared by many newbies here – and I appreciate you posting here for everyone to see.

It is a lot of information, but easing into it gradually and at your own pace is the best path to success, and we really are here for you. You may also like joining the groups to correspond with people who have been in your spot and found their way here (see the link in the top right corner).

Hi bd2486, wish there was a way to start a new Topic for women over 65. Do you know how we could do that? Judith. Good progress for both of us.

bd2486 10 years ago

I’m with you Judith! I’m 70 and have been laid up for 5 mo. after ankle surgery – started 3 wks. ago and have lost 4 lbs – even had a couple of cheat days! It works!

Can raisins be substituted for fruit because I can buy Ezekiel cinamon raisin bread and Ezekiel cinamon rasin muffns?

judith1942 10 years ago

Anyone else in their seventies? I only picked up this extra
weight over the past 4 years. Dr. says I am very healthy but
I want to lose these 15 pounds.
So is anyone else an old woman with a fat tummy? Giggles…

Congratulations, Judith! I’m happy for you and happy to help. 🙂

Hi, Judith. Quaker puffed wheat is fine – just try to get the kind without added sugar. Brussels sprouts aren’t a free vegetable, but you can have a lot of them – 2 cups is a serving. You can see which vegetables are free and which aren’t by clicking on the “Vegetables” button in the Menu Planner.

Is Quaker puffed wheat okay?
Are brussel sprouts a free vegetable?

Hi can you please tell me how big is a cup ? i.e. in mls or tea cup or mug ?

Ossie-Sharon 10 years ago

Hi, Skeezix. Regular ice cream just means it is dairy and not “light,” non-fat or sugar-free.

skeezix 10 years ago

Me again. What is “regular” ice cream?
