I found this program while surfing the net and decided that I would try it. What got me going was lifting my 50 lb suitcase and it hit me how much harder it was to carry the extra weight. I have “2 SUITCASES TO LOSE”
It’s an awesome program because I am seldom hungry and my sweet cravings have almost disappeared. I have lost 23 lbs in 7 weeks. I had good weight control until at 42 years old I was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease and I gained weight steady. That was 14 years ago …….apparently it was a medication that I was taking. I’m now off it but am left with 100 lbs to lose. I hope to lose 2-3 lbs a week and am determined to stick with it. Just 23 lbs makes a difference in how I feel.

Good job everyone. I am happy to hear that I am not the only one who has set backs. It is very encouraging to know that I am not alone. It’s not easy changing old eating patterns. I appreciate the encouragement I get from reading everyone’s postings! Let’s keep it up! πŸ™‚

I have never tried to lose weight by eating 3 meals and 3 snacks a day. This is perfect for me. I am never starving for that next meal, but I do try to eat at approximately the same times give or a take 30 minutes. I started excercising the same time and both are working great. Firming up and I am down 7 #s in just 4 days. Im sure this will slow down, but I feel great!

Hi, Jane. That’s wonderful news! I’m glad that you were able to celebrate and are not hungry. We wish you continued success and good health πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚

I followed the 8 week plan and despite a ‘blip’ in week 2 which involved a trip to Dublin to celebrate my Mum’s 80th birthday and resulted in a 5lb weight gain, I have lost 8lbs (13 if I count that extra 5 I had to lose again!) I am happy to be losing slowly as I believe there is more chance of the weight staying off. I feel generally healthier and more energetic. I have also found that updating my weight on a Sunday as opposed to Friday means that I haven’t fallen into the weekend “sins” trap that many of my work colleagues fall into…and regret every Monday morning! I am no saint. I have ” splurge days”, but believe that because TDC is about healthy eating, and I’m doing what I should either side of such occasions, my weight loss is not affected too dramatically. My dieting work colleagues are all amazed that I am “allowed” to eat so much and still lose weight…

Hello, I
I joined TDC nine days ago. As expected I lost weight (8 lbs) but that isn’t what I’m most excited about. I’ve suffered from constant knee pain for five years. So far I’ve just worked through the pain but lately it had gotten worse, making me re-think possible knee replacement. Within two days eating the food recommended in the TDC I am 90% pain free! If I were religious I would aliken it to an epiphany. I’ve since quit taking my Melaxicam (anti-inflammatory drug). I knew some foods I used to eat weren’t good for me, but I never realized till now the relationship between food and inflammation.

Just finishing week two here. I dropped more the first week but cannot be unhappy with the 1.4 lbs lost this past week either…after all seems like all we do here is EAT! Hard to believe you can eat 3 meals a day PLUS 3 snacks and STILL LOSE weight! So in 2 weeks I’ve lost 4.3 lbs. At that rate, I will lose 8.6 (approx of course) over a month…by Sept that will translate to a wonderful weight to go meet all those “old” people I went to school with…our 50th class reunion is either in late Sept or early Oct. Can’t wait! Now if I can just manage to get back to exercising. Haven’t been able to due to pain but that has even lessen to the point I think I can manage some kind of activity! Don’t give up…that’s my plan! πŸ™‚ Ginger Ware

Hi martam and agisa,
Thanks for the questions!
Happy to help πŸ™‚
The video discussed artificial or over processed versions of popular foods that should be healthy, but have been manipulated into being particularly harmful to your goals. Rather than giving up on them altogether, we encourage better versions in their original, natural forms. Note that the foods discussed in the video are only examples, and many other popular foods have been similarly affectedβ€”so it’s good to read labels, be aware of how a food is made, and choose whole foods as much as possible.

1. Regular “whole wheat” bread – this often also contains refined flours, so it is preferred to select “100% whole” grain products (wheat or other). Even with these products, be sure to read the label and avoid hydrogenated fats or similar ingredients such as mono- and diglycerides.
2. Regular margarine – this is often made from chemically altered fats that create health risks similar to those people are trying to avoid by eating a plant-based product. If you must use a hardened oil, it is better to choose those based on coconut oil, and otherwise to use healthy liquid oils, such as olive, as much as possible.
3. Artificial sweeteners – you can read more about this here: https://www.trimdownclub.com/the-best-way-to-sweeten-your-tea-2.
4. Regular orange juice – If it is in a store, it is likely to have been stripped of what makes it healthy. Even if vitamins etc. have been added back in, it really is not the same. Fresh-squeezed is the way to go.
5. Conventional and overly processed soy – organic is fine, and minimally processed items such as tofu, yogurt, and milk, as well as fermented items such as tempeh and natto are fine. However, most pre-packaged mock meats tend to be a problem.

why are there soya, orange juice and corn options in the diet?

Agisa 9 years ago

I still do not see an answer to the question of martam santos, asking why the diet contains corn, soya, orange juice options?

martam.csantos 9 years ago

HI, I have just joined and I am trying to understand the diet… On the video before joining it said that we should not eat and drink: Concentrated juices, margarine, wholemeal breads, corn and soya. However on one of your recipes one of the ingredients is soya. Can anyone explain this to me?

I have just started the program so am excited about it all. After looking through the foods and getting groceries I actually started following it 3 days ago even though I registered a week ago. I’m hopeful even though im finding it very hard to eat all the foods in a timely manner. It must get easier as it becomes routine.

Hello, TDC friends! I joined TDC in Dec 3 years ago. I lost my 30 lbs and have kept it off. So, I thought I should pop back in and let you know that TDC really works! I eat knowing exactly how much my body needs and if I gain a few lbs, I take them off immediately by eating TDC healthy eating way. (Oh, and I always follow the meal plan I learned while on TDC, adapting it as I need to as the need arises. But, I always keep in mind my portion sizes and my snacks that keep me from binging due to hunger.) I found friends on the site who encouraged me and Ossie was always there to help any way she could. Thanks, TDC for a sure-fire plan that really does what it says! Hang in there, folks. You CAN lose that weight! TDC WILL work for you! It worked for me, with the physical difficulties I had, and it will work for you! Don’t give up! Jan
