Hi, kemasin. We semi-skimmmed milk over skim milk, unless the latter does not having any milk “solids” (you can tell because it will be blue). Other than that, and water of course, tea and coffee are fine. If water is a challenge, you can infuse it with fruit or squeeze lemon and lime juice in it.

Can I use semi-skimmed milk? If not what?

Great ideas! My husband is a butter nut. I try to limit it and salt as he has HBP. Thanks for the ideas!

Hi, Franco. Yes, the intention is for you to make whatever you like with those ingredients. If you don’t want the pasta, you can substitute with an extra ounce or two of turkey.

What I do, for portions, is make enough for both my husband and I. I take out the amounts suggested on my menu plan, for myself and give him his normal portions. Since my portion is so much smaller than my spouse’s, I usually have one or two portions to use for another meal or for a snack.
I make up dishes ahead. e.g. This week I made Manhattan Clam Chowder, served a portion of it with salmon burgers, peach, mango smashed yams & fresh string beans. I had enough clam chowder left over to serve my spouse the next day, while I had the left over salmon, yams & string beans. Also, that same day I made Vegetable Pot Roast, divided it in half, stored both halves in a large yogurt container and froze them for future meals. My spouse is not a big eater, never has been, so I don’t have to make a TON of anything. Hope this helps?

We have a family of 4 adults and I’m not sure how to cook for everyone for dinner. If I follow my menu- it may say “3 oz turkey, a serving of vegetable and 1 cup of pasta”. Can I just look for a recipe that has turkey and vegetables in it and use that instead?

Thanks, ubaptist! Yes, DobbinUna, the intention is for you to eat everything on your menu.

Since “an expert” has not answered yet, here is my take on it:
If you are talking about the meal plan that lists what you should each each meal, eat it all. If you just picked one item from each meal’s menu you will starve – or at the very least, be so hungry you are unable to resist temptation. Example: Monday morning my breakfast is
1 Egg (omega-3)
1/2 Muffin, English, 100% Whole Grain
1 serving of “Free” Spread
1/2 ounce of Almonds
1 Banana
and I get to eat it all!

I have just started in earnest to follow the Trim Down Club (though I joined the Club in Nov. 2014). I am at a loss at present about how the system works and need some tips. I have looked at the introduction video, Step 1; I am going out today to get properly weighed and will complete Step 2 thereafter. I have picked my favourite foods from Step 3 and received a meal plan but I am not sure if you pick one food in each category (for example Breakfast: Hot Porridge) or take all of them. I would be really be grateful for your help to get started. Thanks

Hi avagantor,
I understand your concern about some of the groups being less active than others. It really comes down to the members and the group administrators. There are some groups that do have life, and one of those would be Debbie’s wonderful group: https://www.trimdownclub.com/groups/talking-cooking-nanas/. I will be sure to make a note about your live chat suggestion. Thank you so much for caring and all your help 🙂

Avagantor – I’m with you at being disappointed that more members don’t take part in the groups and forums, so I hope they will see your request and start responding on a more regular basis. I will continue to make contents and will make MORE if there are messages to respond to.

Hi,its me again. I’m a little sad that not too many, here in the Trim Down Club use the GROUP option. I joined ‘Arthritis over 50’ and the ‘Nanny & Grandmother’ groups. No one responds. Is there a chat room, where we can go to each day to talk to real people, in person,so to speak, at a given moment? I need this outlet. I have a need to share the good the bad and the ugly. I need to hear the success of others. When I go into Community, the sharing is days old. Can you help?
