| | I joined TDC late yesterday. I am looking forward to starting this new life change. I lived a healthy, organic life in the Oklahoma country as a child, with a good variety of vegetables from an enormous garden and fruit from the orchard, wheat and peanuts from the fields, freshly slaughtered beef and poultry, healthy eggs, and raw milk, butter and cheese. When my parents were forced to moved our family to town, our eating habits changed. I had never before eaten food from a can or a box. I missed the farm and the country meals and I still do today. Over the years, I have developed a few health problems, kidney stones being the most painful to deal with. I started looking for healthy information online and happened upon a TDC video which led me here. This feels right and I believe I will get the help I need here to, once again, live a healthy life, loose weight and enjoy eating again. |

| | Ossie – there have been a few posts about flour and I’ve come across raw organic purple corn flour from Peru. I tried it mixing in with the rice flour in the lemon muffin recipe – made 1/2 as recipe and 1/2 with purple corn flour and chillie. These were a hit with friends and the colour is great. I assume its OK for the diet? |
| | Hi everyone. I’ve been off the diet for a couple of weeks, partly work pressures, partly invites out for meals. I was a wee bit naughty and expected to have put on weight but amazingly have lost a bit. I’m making very small progress compared to many of you but it is going down. Sharon |
| | Hi, ebenner, and welcome. Is there a medical reason you have been following a 1000-calorie diet? If not, this amount is much, much, much too low for an adult, and is generally promoted as a short-term type of diet. The Trim Down Club program is intended to be a lifelong healthy way of eating, which is why you see more food than you are used to. I am glad to read that you are losing, and assure you that your chances of being healthier and happier are much higher this way. |

| | Hi everyone.Boy,it sounds like you are all staying on track.I am still down 5 lbs.All of my family likes to cook so I have to pick out the right food and not eat too muck.My Daughter made homemade bread tonight.Mmmm it is good.I took a small slice and it was enough. To change my habits I have to decide not to eat too much I love it that I do not have to cook like I used to but it is hard to pass up such good food.Am seeing my clothes be a little large. Good night all.Have a good day tomorrow. |
| | OSSIE: Do you have any recipes for delicious desserts for Easter dinner this Sunday? I’ve been seeing cheese cakes coming through my e-mail and they look so good and refreshing, but I know they are full of fat. Is there anything sugar and carb free? |
| | A question from this newbie: I have gone online to check out substitutions for various things to make it easier for me. |
| | OSSIE: I’m confused about salt. IS IT BEST TO USE SEA SALT FOR EVERYTHING, including baking and all cooking? I know Sea Salt has lots of good things in it, but what do we do for IODINE? Our bodies need Idodine, don’t they? Also, It seems to me that sea salt is stronger tasting than regular table salt – Mortons. Is that correct or not? Should we use less sea salt than regular table salt? |
| | Ossie: So the bottom line is control the amount of salt intake but it really does not matter which type of salt you choose unless you are talking to a gormet’ cook. Seaborne: Good way to put it. I just feel a little disappointed that Trim Down is getting involved in this, but like you say, if it works, I guess no harm is done. |
| | Hi, LuckyLady. Glad to read things are going well. We don’t like to think anyone is depriving themselves when the options might benefit from an upgrade |
| | Good news, LuckyLady! Great to read all the progress that people are making, and that some are sticking with it even when nothing seems to be happening. That was my case, plateau for 3 weeks, then all of a sudden it seems today I have lost one inch everywhere (almost!) and feel lighter too, must be more muscle there! I’m down a total of 13lb since Jan 1!! |
