I could not find Dried Tomatoe Spread, can anyone give me an idea of where I might look in a grocery store? With sauces, other spreads like mayonaise, dressings???? I looked in all these places. Just wondering if my store carries it. They do not carry Brown Rice Pasta.

Hi all hope you all doing well.

I had to laugh when I read your message Katie, you seem to mirror what I’ve done during the summer so won’t repeat your post. I’ve now been back on track for a few weeks but my weight seems be to increasing slowly so going to get my thyroid levels checked out again just incase. Although I also not back exercising yet so that could also be a fact. Glad to hear your getting on the treadmill again Apensa and out for walks, so pleased your knees are giving you less jip. Thanks for the link Radisson, I may not be at the over 55 years yet but some interesting reading on the link. Good luck to everyone new to this, stick at, it gives you more energy and most people have great weight loss. I’m off to generate an new menu planner and get that butternut recipe Ginnerlou as you make it sound worth the trying. Good luck everyone.

Hi, Andreehanson. Not to worry. Because of the nature of this program (lifestyle change vs. restrictive), sometimes it takes the body a little while to get used to it before losing weight. Most often this is a result of previous restrictive diets, which can slow down your metabolism. Are you physically active? You can give your metabolism a kick-start by swapping out an exercise to work a different set of muscles than usual.
Another point I would make is that it is probably wort your while to consider not using processed foods, such as frozen prepared meals, on a regular basis. One of the principles of this program is unprocessed foods – this is one of the features that can make a significant difference in weight loss efforts.
If you continue to feel like your body is not changing (not just by the scale, but also how you look and feel, how your clothes fit, etc.), I would be happy to compare the menu you posted to your nutritional needs – I just need your height, weight, age, estimation of your physical activity level, and a sample day from your menu (copy and paste here), as well as an estimation of how closely you follow it.

Andreehanson, check out your menu section to make up a week’s menu. Lots of good foods to choose from. I use SWG (sprouted whole grain) bread and its Eziekel bread found in the freezer section. I shop Whole Foods for most of my products. Watch out for processed foods-high in sodium and other not friendly stuff. Ossie will get back with you to help you with your needs. This is just what I do. I’ve been doing this since the first of the year and I love the way I eat now. Hang in there and it will become easier for you as you get use to the menus.

Thanks Ossie. May just stick to the squash and add the spices that you would use for pumpkin. Just love these. My new best recipe.

Hi everyone:

I found another interesting site of particular interest for people over 55. This one is about interval training but the site covers just about any other subjects for seniors.

Good morning/evening everyone. Just had the butternut muffins for breakfast and boy oh boy were they the best! I highly recommend them. Ossie, could you sub pumpkin for the butternut for a different take? Great to hear all the successes and hang in there to all who are struggling. I know I feel so much better eating this way and the weight loss is just a bonus. Aspensa, we use to live in Tucson and Phoenix area. That was a 100 yrs ago 🙂

Where do I find the list of food exchanges. I’ve seen it somewhere but now it escapes me?

Hi, kydano. SWG (or “sprouted whole grain”) bread is available at health-oriented stores, including large chains such as Whole Foods Market, as well a at large superstores such as CostCo and WalMart. You can also order it online, i.e. at Amazon. To read more about SWG bread, see our article here https://www.trimdownclub.com/what-is-swg-bread/.

Check the freezer section of your local market or try Trader Joe’s if you have one near by.

Hello Ossie. I’m an oldie but need the answer to a question that might help us all. Here goes – when I started the first of the year I printed out recipes that I knew I would use over and over but going back in and checking a recipe. I have noticed a significant change in the lemon cottage cheese muffins. My earlier recipe calls for 4 eggs while the “new” recipe doesn’t call for any eggs. HELP PLEASE. Thanks

Hi, TheKell – absolutely!!

Ossie-Sharon 12 years ago

Hi, TheKell. The program doesn’t really work with calories, but more with meeting your nutritional needs. It does take into account some physical activity.

hi everbody. i just started today. not sure if this is the correct place to post. but here goes… do the total calories in the suggested menu relate to a weekly weight loss number or goal? if you workout alot, is there a way to adjust for that?
