Spanielfan98 7 years ago

Just trying to get organized for my Jan. 2 start date on this plan…I’m exploring my menu options and set up under the quick menu and it generated a good 8 week plan but I would like to investigate the semi custom plan and the fully custom plan too…How do I I change over to the semi custom meal plan?? Please help!

Just joined tonight and plan to get going on January 2. I, like most people, have been on countless diets over the last 20 years. I need to get this weight off and would love to be at a comfy 165 (currently 226) before my 60th birthday in 2019. I’m just done with being overweight and unhealthy.

Hi, Gezi. You may find the connections you’re looking for in the Group Forums – most people in this program are just like you!
As for the soups, please do take advantage of our recipe collection – see link here https://www.trimdownclub.com/recipe_type/soups/.

Hi- I am 69 and would like to be included in a group of older people who need weight loss and not highly active. I am moderately active to light active. Also, I know my sugar/carb intake is my biggest problem area- but I also see how much food I have to eat in one day! I read the other comments but when I am working ( I teach at college)I barely have time to eat properly so seeking advice about that. I know I can use food exchanges but when things get busy- cooking is the last think I like to do. I do plan to make homemade soups for dinner and lunches. I still getting to know the site. Are there homemade soup options? easier meals to take on the go? it’s a lot of information so maybe it’s so new and confusing. but I am excited. Hope you can answer my questions.

Hi, jetpilot, and welcome! Sourdough bread is indeed an excellent choice, especially if it is the whole grain type – whole grain bread is in the Menu Planner lists, and you can use that entry for sourdough as well.
Regarding beverages, anything without significant amounts of major nutrients (protein, fat, carb) is “free,” and so doesn’t need to be counted in the menu. Items such as milk and fruit juice are counted as foods. We of course recommend water, still or carbonated, plain or or flavored with cut up fruit peels (just steep like tea). We also recommend teas and coffee – just be wise about what you add to it, avoiding artificial creamers and sweeteners. If you like soda, we recommend you make your own rather than relying on readymade products with excessive sugar or artificial sweeteners that can work against your goals here; just dress up plain soda water with natural flavor extracts (yes, “cola” is available!) or citrus peels and a natural no-carb sweetener (such as Stevia, monk fruit, and/or erythritol). Other beverages, such as fresh-squeezed juices and milks, are considered foods.

Hi there! I’m new to trim down club and am excited to start. Of course, I have a ton of questions. I’ll start with just a couple. I’ve been reading a lot about bread. What is your take on Sourdough. I’ve read that it’s a better choice for bread because of the fermentation process, but I don’t see it as an option in the menu planner.

2nd. I don’t see any drinks in the menu options. Such as coffee and tea. How do I add those to my menu? Thanks!

Hi, auragasm, and welcome! You can use small amounts of coffee creamer, but we do encourage you to use “real” options, such as half-and-half, full cream, or milky vegan beverages.

Hello – I’m new, starting today. I can’t tell you how many “diets” I’ve tried only to get bored with them. WW was good but I hated counting the points. I have a question: is coffee creamer okay in a small amount?

Hi, gcole. You can “trick” the Menu Planner application into giving you a little less food if you change the weight in your profile to 158.8. You can also use exercise to improve your metabolic rate, which is very important if you have been on such a restrictive diet in the past. s you lose weight here, the amount of food will decrease until it reaches something closer to what you are used to – but until then, over-restricting at your current weight may lead to long-term plateauing.

Hi, I a newbie and just printed my first menu! To be honest I am very concerned about the amount of food listed. I am in the habit of consuming about 1500 calories a day and the menu provided seems much higher. I understand that I should eat more often since most days I skip breakfast but I am afraid that if I increase my calorie intake drastically I will gain more weight!

Hi, Ms. Bollinger. Yes, this program is based on an exchange system. Regarding BBQ sauce, it is a “sweet” exchange, meaning it is an extra allowed in small amounts to keep the menu enjoyable. It can’t be swapped in for something nutritious. Having written that, we do encourage the best choice for the sauce, i.e., make from all-natural ingredients, with minimal sugar.

I am confused. Is this an Exchange type program? Seems wierd to substitute BBQ sauce for another food group.

Hi, cmhaskew. Fish oil is a supplement of omega-3 fatty acids from fish, particularly “DHA” and “EPA,” which make important contributions to health. They are often greatly inadequate in the typical American diet.

Hi I’m new. What is fish oil?
