![]() | Harbourview I realize finding Bread made with SWG is a task in it’s self. My husband and I started making our own bread. In you opinion do you think this is a healthier choice? We’re using my Kitchen Aide so it ‘s all from scratch. |
![]() | Good morning from sunny Florida. I just joined yesterday and I’ve been busy getting to know all about TrimDown! Not sure if there is a place for a profile and a picture? I am 73, female, outlived 2 husbands and met husband #3 on Match.com in 1998. He sleeps with one eye open! We are both from New England, and lived/traveled full time in an RV when we retired. Settled here in Florida in 2007 with our furkid Yorkie, Higgins. We have 4 kids between us, 11 grands, and 2 greatgrands. Don is retired Army and I have led a fabulous life with several wonderful careers from diamonds and yachts to hand knit design for a major yarn company, to working for the State of Vermont and doing a daily radio show, plus lots more. I have been very, very blessed! I was thin all my life until about age 55. I am an alcoholic, now sober for 24 years, and a 3 pack a day smoker, smoke free for 22 years. Sin paid! When I gave up those two nasty habits, Ben & Jerry and Sara Lee became my roommates! I’ve been on every diet there is. And lost. And gained. And lost…..I’m sure you understand. I’ve had a heart attack and suffer from CHF. Also have osteoporosis, osteoarthritis, no knees left after a top weight of 268. I use a cane, walker, and mobility scooter. Managed to lose down to 228 and maintain that for several years. Until the belly pain started. Complained to my doctor for 2 years. Changed doctor and was immediately diagnosed with Celiac Disease. Went VERY strictly gluten-free immediately, but the pain kept getting worse and worse. In May 2011, my son, who is an RN, told me to get up to Maine where he had made an appointment with a GI doctor for me. Within 5 days I had surgery to remove half my colon and a HUGE malignant tumor. Spent 25 days in the hospital, then started on chemo, which was killing me faster than the cancer. OMG I’m going on here….. Anyway, I’m back home in Florida with a wonderful oncologist and on reduced dosages of chemo. Doing well. EXCEPT….. Food is indeed comforting. And when you have metastatic advanced cancer, you discover that there is a lot of food on your bucket list you want to try! And then, do you know that they start off my chemo treatments with a nice big bag of STEROIDS???!!!! Initially I was overjoyed that the one thing I like about my diagnosis was that I was going to get thin. WRONG! I have GAINED 50 lbs in 1 year!!!! SO, here I am. Anxious to get back on the healthy eating track and hopefully to lose those 50 I gained. And perhaps to make some nice friends to cheer me on. I have always hated exercise, but I want you all to keep me accountable about doing my seated exercises and bust my considerable chops when I don’t. (This morning I trimmed and watered all my porch plants, which is this morning’s exercise, thank you.) Thanks for listening and hugs to all of you on this adventure in good health! Mary Ellen |
![]() | Ok. So, today I am going to do something I haven’t done much of in a very long time. I’m going to go for a ride. ON MY BIKE… Some really great news. I woke up this morning and did not have the need to use my walker. I am also taking an escort to make sure I am safe. I also noticed that for the past two days, I have had no need to use my pain meds. WOW!!! Something wonderful is happening and I love it. Have a great day every on. Especially to all my gals from Texas. Yehaw….. Lets go riding cowboy. I’ll let everyone know how it goes. Over and Out |
![]() | Good morning you wonderful people. Hello from Houston Texas … Yes this cruise ship is picking up lots of talented people…it’s day 2 for me…. I’m excited.. Thought I pop in for a minute to wish y’all a fabulous day …. |
![]() | Felicia from Canada. Suffer from endometriosis. I need to lose about 50 pounds. I joined a gym this week and hired a trainer to help keep me disciplined and show me what to do. The diet portion of my goal seems hard because I’m such a picky eater. A lot of the foods in the menu planner are expensive also. I will have to apply these foods slowly. It’s all very over whelming. Guess I will have to start slow. |
![]() | hi seaborn…yes the aga is a range cooker. |
![]() | got to have milk on cereal lol! |
![]() | sorry annaleeramos, I don’t know, but if you like the cereal without milk go with it, but if you need milk I’m sure a little of raw milk ect would hurt to much in the morning. I picked porridge on my plan and it has always said porridge with milk. |
![]() | Hi everyone, how are you all doing round the world? feeling sorry for all the folks down under suffering the super heat wave, hope cooler weather get to you soon. How’s bonnie Scotland? oh I so miss home. Well it’s 2pm in Italy and I’m having a great motivating day. Done a wee run round the house with my daughter this morning (she’s off nursery with a wee bug) She loves playing chase me and it helps me get moving. I went on the scales today and was I shocked, I have managed to lose 1 1\2 kilos (think that 3.3lbs) on I’m only on day 3. I know people keep telling me I would lose a good amount my first week but with the thyroid problem I didn’t believe it, in the last 3 years I have tried healthy eating plans but if this diet is anything to go by looks like I wasn’t eating enough and enough or the right things. Love reading everyones comments on here, and now these even art. I love taking photos to but not professional..well keep up the great work everyone….even if everyone isn’t losing at the same rate its great that we’re all trying a more healthier eating lifestyle….have a great day….afternoon….or evening…and if your sleeping hope you have fun catching up on the diet chat when you get up…..p.s seen a new health shop in my local italian town today. They help make out a diet plan with healthy food option to lose weight. The girl came running out the door to give me a leaflet (wonder why!) she said I could read it at home and visit them later, I flicked though the leaflet and told her, ‘Sorry I have all this info and much more with the trimdownclub and comunity chat online….at the 1\4 of the cost’ – thanks again everyone for all the helpful info |
![]() | Hey, I have a question. when my menu tells me to eat breakfast cereal, can I add milk too it, or do I need to eat it without milk. The thing is, it doesn’t say. |
![]() | Good morning world. Well, no lost wait today. The good thing however, is that I didn’t gain any either. But hey, the week is not over with yet. |

I had a look at your photos Harbourview…some lovely shots there. I feel for you having sciatica…terrible thing!
