![]() | Hi, Chia. Yes, you will find them in health-oriented stores. Amaranth is often used as a substitute for oatmeal, and rice is a substitute for barley. For pastas, we recommend brown rice pasta, but there are also corn pastas available. If you really want to avoid all wheat products, it probably would be best for you to avoid most SWG breads and English muffins. When you’re shopping, look for gluten-free whole grain products. Since your nearest healthfood-type store is so far away, perhaps you would like to try shopping online and having it delivered. The following are some helpful links: http://apps.wholefoodsmarket.com/shop/, http://truefoodsmarket.com/, http://www.shoporganic.com/, http://www.glutino.com/our-products/bakery/english-muffins/premium-english-muffins/. |
![]() | OSSIE: I haven’t heard of many of these things. Where will I find them? Do health food stores carry most of them? That will be 35 miles from where I live. Which ones would take the place of my breakfast Oatmeal, and which ones would take the place of Barley and rices or pastas? Would I use the same amounts as the oatmeal and the barley? What about the SWG bread and english muffins? I bought both of them. Should I replace them too? |
![]() | Hi, Chia. Try quinoa, amaranth, millet, brown rice, organic cornmeal (not cornflour). Buckwheat groats, sorghum, and teff are not in the planner (because they tend to be very culture-specific), but they are also wheat-free. |
![]() | JACKIEE: Thanks for the tip to look for “drinks” instead of shakes. I found them. I have not told my friends about my diet yet. I always like to wait until someone notices I have lost some weight — just in case I fail, or it takes longer to show. 🙂 Have a great day! |
![]() | OSSIE: My rosacea has gotten a lot worse since I started this diet and eat a lot of oatmeal and barley, of which they are both made with wheat right? I just read that wheat can cause a lot of skin problems. All along, I’ve wondered if my rosacea is from something from within my body. What foods can I eat to take the place of the oatmeal, rice or barley, that will give me the nutrients that I need on this diet? |
![]() | I am happy today. My sugar is down 20 points.I am starting to feel better.Am not doing the diet perfectly but I am working on it. |
![]() | Hi all, hope everyone is having a good day. Tuesdays are my weighin day, and I lost 1 lb this week….slow but plodding along:) |
![]() | American cup – 8 ounces or 240 ml |
![]() | Ossie- can you please tell me-the cup measurement…is it uk or american cup ? |
![]() | Hi I’m a newbie. I got here quite by accident, or by fate?! I was looking for an eating plan to go with Zenical/Orlistat medication that my GP prescribed. Unfortunately, we don’t have anything in the UK, so I ended up on a US site and then a link to here! Guess I was meant to find this. Well I’ve read up and educated myself on a few things and I know its not gonna be easy, but the time is right and I need to start a new lifestyle now. Today I started by eating breakfast, something I’ve never done! Tomorrow, my food shopping is being delivered so i’ll start the new foods and recipes….good job I like cooking! Anyway, waffled enough at the mo….. Anyone else on Orlistat/Zenical by any chance???? All the best…… Cheryl 🙂 |
![]() | Hi Lisafab, apensa, & joanneruffani good to see more on board the healthy eating plan. Good luck to you all on your personal program I agree with Joanneruffani about your menu planner, it’s better to keep it simple to start with, things you know and like. Always look out for the other options when shopping and add them to your next menu planner. LOL, Kelz1973, glad your getting some non-fattening candy 😀 and that your wrapping is a success…sweet dreams…you to Seaborn (thanks for such a good blether last night) and R2b2 sleep tight…hope you all have a great rest and awake full of jolly beans…glad it’s cooler for you all. How are you Dawnrosie? how are you getting on with the move and with all the snow? thinking of you……Hope everyone in the uk is ok too. How about your Annaleeramos, how are you getting on, tried any new recipes on your beautiful family? How about everyone else…getting the results your looking for? Right that’s my snack eaten….till the next time happy healthy eating all 🙂 |
![]() | Hi, Apensa. Just stick with low-fat, unprocessed, whole, fresh foods, and you should do fine. |
![]() | I’m a « newbie » too and quite agree with you – I suppose we need to choose the food that we like to eat very carefully and when we like to eat it too. Im going to choose a little differently before getting the final menu – I’ll fail otherwise… and the aim is to lose kilos, get healthy and find energy |
![]() | Hi. I am a “Newbie”. After looking at the menus presented to me, it is almost impossible for me to follow them….some of the stuff I have never even heard of and I am not willing to cook specific items just to meet a menu. If I drink all the water they suggest in a day, I’ll be doing Joe Theisman commercials. I’m 71 in basic good health with a nice set of rolls around the middle and I’m going to need a training bra pretty soon. What can I do? |
![]() | Hello all. Sorry been a bit quiet the last couple of days. Just busy with life. But i am still eating well. Still making tiny changes. I am loving wrapping. I just find they fill me so much better than bread. And i am filling them right up. Well its been a busy day and time for me to head to bed. Another nice day tomorrow. Not too hot and not too cold. Oh and some nice scenery too. We have the Toud Down Under on at the moment. For those who don’t know its a cycling event a bit like the Tour de France. Not as gruelling. We have some of the worlds top cyclists here. And lets just say a bit if eye candy is always good. At least this candy does not go on the hips. He he Ok of to the land of dreams i go. Night all. |
