Firenza is a beautiful city but only been once, agree totally on your take on the weather here. If it helps I wrote down a reply from Ossie on here once that said this plan is based on 45% energy from Carbs, 25-30% fat and 25%-30% protien, the ratio 1.5 grams protein to 1 gram fat to 3 gram carbs, if that is any help to you. I really like the personal menu planner, it gives me structure to potion sizes which I was no good at before, and I love changing items (by hitting the refresh button) when I get bored or cant get the stuff here. Hope it gets easier for you and you Sandydan. I know it recommends SWG bread primarly but the next best things are 100% whole grain breads, just don’t pick SWG on your personnel menu planner, as it has all the other alternatives, I love rye crispbreads now and whole grain rolls. It true what Chai says try reading as much as possible, then when you get a quesiton just post on here, Ossie is trim down club dietitian so she answers all the quesitons, otherwise just moan away and someone will always try and give you encouragement on what to do or try. We all had doubts to start with but a little efford goes a long way |

I DO KNOW HOW YOU FEEL, AS I WAS IN THE VERY BEGINNING, BUT ONCE YOU READ ALL THE DIRECTIONS IN HOW TO CHOOSE YOUR FOODS AND MAKING YOUR MENU CHOICES, YOU WILL ALSO BE ABLE TO SEE HOW AND WHAT YOU CAN SUBSTITUTE EACH FOOD WITH ANOTHER EQUAL FOOD. You can always post your questions on the NEWBIE Formum and address them to OSSIE. She is very helpful. There is a whole list of FREE Vegetables to be used. If you can keep up with all of the messages posted on the NEWBIE formum, that will also give you ideas. For myself, I didn’t choose lots of different foods in the first place. I wanted to make it simple until I could get used to it. I still don’t make the recipes. I chose the simple menus without the recipes. I’ve been on it from Jan 7th, 2013 and have only today made out a new week of menus. I still kept the simple menus, but changed some of my foods. I am very full with these foods but I don’t need to be cooking from recipes all the times. I do love to cook, but this is simple for right now. BUT, BE SURE AND READ ALL OF THE INSTRUCTIONS FIRST. ![]() | Welcome to the club, Sandy. Yep….my sentiments exactly. Trying to see if there is a list of offsetting items that can be used to come up with our own menus. In other words SWG bread on one side, a can of tuna fish on the other. By the way, SWG means Sprouted Whole Grain….I feel your confulsion. |
![]() | this menu planning is hard to follow I don’t even know what some of the ingredients are or where to get them like what is SWGBread all I find is whole grain bread or 100 percent whole wheat bread which now you make me feel is no good for me !!! Secondly I never could eat all that food on the menu !!! |
![]() | Hang in there Oregon girl. We are here to encourage and help. Just remember this is NOT a diet but a healthy way of eating with losing weight as a side benefit. My husband and I have been doing this for about 3 weeks and feel so much better than we did. We fill full and not at all tempted to eat unhealthy things. Haven’t had soda, candy, cookies etc. I am going to make the cookies in the recipes. Banana brown butter bread in the oven and all the ingredients for the cream cheese chocolate fudge cake on the counter getting ready to make. It’s the second for both of these. The lemon cottage cheese muffins remind us of cornbread in their consistency. Made those twice also. We are all here for help. Have a great day y’all |
![]() | Did something different with our snack today. My husband said this was a great, great snack, the best one he has had. Used everything on my menu, 1 oz hard cheese, slice of swg bread and 1/2 banana. I shredded my cheese and put it on top of the bread and put it under the broiler! Cheese toast and banana. Great snack. |
![]() | I am a little discouraged that my menu planner includes foods I can’t eat and many names of things I need to look up before I can eat or make them. Did make lemon cottage muffins this AM and had 2 with yogurt and tea for breakfast. It is a start and I am down a pound or 2. |

![]() | Question….My biggest problem in using this program is that I don’t intend to cook most of the menus and use most of the ingredients they list….heck, I don’t know what half of them are. Isn’t there a way using their basic guidelines as to portions to find a list of offsetting foods (Proteins and Carbs) that a person can eat throughout the day and make up menus as they go and based on what they have available. Anything that would streamline this process would be appreciated. I don’t mind eating correctly but I hate being resticted to a menu. I’d like to just grab a slice of SWG bread and a can of tuna fish if it is available for a snack….or a piece of fruit and a slice of bread….or a cup of yogurt and a banana. |
![]() | Jackiee, my daughter lives outside of Firenze. We spent mid December to mid January there. Blew the heck out of any diet…..LOL. Beautiful place when the sun shines but the weather sucks just about any time of the year except for spring. Hot and muggy in summer and cold and damp in the winter. |
![]() | Question….can you exchange the flours in a recipe? For example – quinoa for almond or brown rice flour? Not a fan of the quinoa. Have made quite a few of the recipes and both my husband and I like them. He loves the egg salad. Jackiee, I envy you living in Italy. After I saw Under the Tuscan Sun and saw how beautiful the country side was I knew that one day I would love to visit. Bev, hope you don’t wash away! Have fun with your boys.
