Hi All, I started the diet 3 days ago and have lost 8lbs! Very happy with my flying start although I guess it will level out. Am also in UK and struggling to find SWG bread. Will rye bread do?

Hi, GinnerLou. If you are familiar with the respective baking properties of different flours and how to compensate for any differences, you absolutely can exchange the flours. Quinoa can generally be substituted for brown rice flour in a one-to-one ratio – note that the texture may be more substantial than the rice flour recipe (slightly thicker and heavier).

Hi, Janet VanKeulen. Thanks for your measurements and score. I see that the score is a bit low, so it piques my interest regarding what is in your menu. Can you cut and paste a typical day’s menu here? I will look it over and compare the calculations to your stats.

Another note for Marcia: the Menu Planner was recently expanded to include more foods, including those that are more conventional in nature. The main point is to choose items that are whole, fresh, and unprocessed as much as possible.
Having said that, it is important to note that many of the common foods with which we have been surrounded for most of our lives are not so healthy, and wreak havoc with the metabolism. It might be good to try some of the newer foods out gradually, see what you and your family might actually like or find a recipe that enables you to enjoy them. It is good to introduce the whole family to healthy eating habits, both for them and to build yourself a comfortable environment in which you can meet your health goals.

Marcia, for dairy-free “dairy,” simply select the “vegan” items in the dairy category. You can find them in the same health-oriented shops as you would the other items – i.e., large chains such as Whole Foods Market and Trader Joe’s.

Apensa, I reviewed the sample meals you posted for “honest critique”, and it looks quite good. The only thing I might suggest is that if you love “fried in butter” maybe just go half-and-half butter and a better oil. Macadamia nut oil has a butter-like hint (but is expensive) and of course organic canola is taste-less. That could make a difference.
2. Good that you have the turkey sausage

Hi Druimveld, please to see another on board, hope you have fun with the menu and that you feel the benefits of this program soon. My energy levels have been great since starting. Good Luck

So here is to hopefully finding the right plan. Losing weight is an added benefit for me, but my main goal is to become a healthy person. I am 37 and mother of 2. Diabetes runs in my family, and I have high blood pressure as a result of a genetic kidney disease. I know the kinds of food we eat are directly correlated to many health problems. I have tried many different plans and have done the yo-yo thing. It is time to really learn about nutrition and make this work!! I had my first shopping trip today sans the normal preservative packed, over artificially sweetened foods I would usually choose! Bring on the menu!!! 🙂

Hi Tonyannie, the answer is ‘yes’ and it’s not a silly questions, it actually a popual question. Good luck in fitting it all in. Welcome on boards, any other questions just ask away someone will always give you advice as best possible. 🙂

Hi all I am brand new. Silly question, on the daily menu are you supposed to eat everything they list for every meal

Evening all, how are you all getting on?
I’ve had a lovely Sunday, even got a walk in. I’ve just watched a ‘walking diet’ by Joanna Hall interesting techniques that I’m going to try tomorrow.
Had Kedgeree for sunday lunch today, not from the recipes here but had most my allowance things so thought it a nice change, I made it with rice, cod fish, peas and boiled egg. I shocked myslef as the last time I cooked this was about30 ago at high school. It was a hit with my hubby but I got the thumbs down from my 3 year old because it had green things in it!!! this from a girl that loves raw peppers, carrot and fennel. 😉
Happy Australia Day to everyone in that part of the world. Hope everythings ok with you all and that the rain isn’t cause you any real problems.
Happy healthy day to everyone else too. Night night from Italy. 😀

Hi, Yvonne. Your husband needs about 1/3 more than you.
There is no real limit of skim milk in tea, assume you don’t add many more full cups of milk to your menu each day.
Green tea does count as part of your fluids, but only half the value of water (there are other advantages to green tea, but it is a diuretic).

apensa so glad to see we are not all female. My husband of 50+ years grew up in AZ and graduated from U of A. Good luck to all of us for trying to be healthier. I’m only in this less than a week and haven’t gotten into the routine yet.

Hi Ossie
Yvonne here, I am 5ft 7ins and weigh 195lbs. Can you now calculate how much more food my husband will need to lose weight.
Also – I am a great tea lover and will drink some green tea, but is there a daily allowance of milk (skimmed of course) that I can drink in ordinary tea please.
Also one other thing, does the water used to make the tea count towards the ten glasses of water a day, or are they on top of other drinks.

Hi, Yvonne. What are your height and weight measurements? With that information, I can calculate how much more your husband needs.
