![]() | Evening all,…Maurc, there’s a lovely dietitian called Ossie who anwsers questions on here and all the chat forums. Think your talking about the one-to-one chat line charges. As blessingcatcher said read your downloads, then fill out your menu planner with food you like and know that available, then add other things as you find them, when you have your menu for the week theres a refresh button at then end of each food item that gives you an alternative to choose from, good luck and other problem, post the question on a forum…loads of people will try to help |
![]() | Hi, BlessingCatcher. Finding SWG is not a problem in Israel at all. The breads are sold even in the large grocery store chains (most commonly sold brands: Harduf לחם חי, חרדוף Lehem Hi), and often you can find the special grains and flours there, too (in their own section). There are a few large health food chains to help you stock up on anything else: Eden Teva Market, Teva Castel, and Nitzat HaDuvdevan. |
![]() | Hi, I asked that and Ossie said both spinach and Swiss chard (silverbeet? in UK and AUS) can substitute for kale and they are both on the list of free veg at the end of your menus. Good luck! |
![]() | Does anyone know why spinach is not mentioned as an alternative green? |
![]() | Thanks, Blessing….I know I have seen the frozen food section referred to before but did not realize that is the only place it is availavle. Never thought of buying frozen bread before. As so much of this “diet”, “life style” or whatever you choose to callit, it is a big PITA. |
![]() | Apensa, in answer to your bread question: Ezekiel Bread is the most well-known SWG bread. (There are a few other brands, but it is the most easily accessible.) And, we are actually able to get them from some of our larger “chain” grocery stores here. (Albertson’s & Kroger/Smith’s and Tom Thumb in particular) Be sure to check in the freezer section, not the fresh bread section. If you have access to a Trader Joe’s or Sprout’s or Sunflower Market or Natural Grocers or Whole Foods, they also carry them. (More expensive, sometimes though.) Sometimes, your local grocery store will order for you as well. Have you checked with the manager to see if that is a possibility? Hope this helps! 🙂 Also, I believe I remember Ossie answering someone else that the whole grain breads are ok if you can’t access the SWG. |
![]() | We are leaving for vacation in Israel soon. Finding clean meats and great fruits and veggies will be no problem. But, the SWG breads … another story. We will have a kitchenette so we can prepare our own meals. There are lots of bakeries there … not like here in the US. They have tons of different kinds of breads. Since they are made fresh daily, and we can choose some whole grains (hopefully), will that be sufficient? I do NOT want to gain back the 12 lbs I’ve already lost! I know I won’t be able to follow the diet well, but will try to be making good choices in my meals and snacks. |
![]() | To Maurc: Make sure when you get on to the Newbies thread you click on the “1” at the top of the page. That should bring you to the latest posts. I know what you are saying. I did not know that you had to pay extra to speak to a Dietitian…thanks for the wakening. Quite frankly in order to really follow this sites system, which I’m sure works, you almost have to have a cook, someone to do your shopping and someone to follow you around to make sure you eat the recomended “snacks”. Also, good luck on finding some of the food they mention. If you are a member of the human race and have a job with any kind of social life, following what they recommend is murder. |

![]() | Hi everyone, I joined a couple of weeks ago I live in the UK I am 61 married, have two grandchildren and a little over wight. I am looking to get back into shap and fitter, for the past five years I have be lazy with no exercise and overeating. A lot of the foods on the hit lists are unfamiliar to me and it will take me some time to get make any changes. I did buy some spelt flour last week-end and made some honey and cinamon buscuits which were nice. I usually eat quite healthy I never buy processed food or ready meals I prefer to make things from scratch. My weak point is cake and pastry which I have over indulged in over the past five years and had some cravings. I have managed to stop the cravings now and over Christmas we did not have much cakes or crisps etc. I know it will be hard to make the transition because my husband is a non nonsence meat and two veg guy and does not go for fish or those healthy options. Look forward to poping in here from time to time to get some support. |
![]() | If anyone gets a sweet tooth craving I can highly recommend the “Nuts about Sweet Potato Pudding”. Never had sweet potatoes as a dessert before only roasted. It is Gorgeous! Well worth all the washing up it made but, gave my hands a great workout….lol. |
