Evening all from Italy, how is everyone getting on?
Welcome on board Slimasharon, Lorena, Frances and Cheryl, so glad more people are on board and best of luck reaching your own goals. Need any help just ask. Glad you found the recipe Frances, lol.
Maurac, how did your shopping trip go? find anything uselful.
LynnM, well done being at the lower end of your yoyo weight, I do hope you manage to cut the cord on that yoyo so the weight never goes back up again. Let us know how the brownies go,
Gingerlou, ouch….sorry to hear you’ve been suffering, hope you get better quick. It would be great having you or anyone from here on one of my walks then I could talk trim down stuff too, instead of trying to explain everything about trim down in italian (not very good at that even after 7 years).
😀 Seaborn….hahaha I know your a Bletherer….hope you had a good day with your daughter.
My good news…. thats now 3 times in the last 2 days I’ve been asked if I have lost weight by different people, (I know it’s only been 3 kilos but 🙂 it’s so nice when people notice.
Well folks the weekend is here, and I do wish you all a healthy eating weekend….I find the weekend a temptation because there’s always cake and stuff gets put on the table when visiting friends and family. A friend visited today but she was pleased when I put almond nuts on the table, with our cuppa tea she said there fattening, I said there are also meant to be good for helping burn fat (I counted mines out…which lead to her having a weighed portion too..) she’s now going to make sure she has nuts or fruit for when I go to her for a snack 😉 phew, that make one less house a danger zone for my weakness 😀 Have a fun weekend all.

Hi, I’m Cheryl, from Erie,PA, USA. We watch BBC,the US version and there was a little blurb about our town the day the snow was coming down sideways. We do get some great winter storms. But also have a beautiful bay where we sail in the summer which of course brings us to weight gain and (gasp) the lumpy, “better wear a caftan this summer” figure. I’ve gained 18 lbs. since October and need to go down a total of 40. Whenever I even think about losing weight I gain. But I’m 57 and I love nice clothes, but I don’t look good in anything anymore. Do you look better after 2 vodkas?
Starting the diet today. Hope to give my husband the present of 5 lbs. less of me for Valentines Day.

Hi, stgeofun. Spinach is a “free” (unlimited) vegetable, and so does not need to be calculated into your menus by the Menu Planner application. When you get your weekly menu in the Menu Planner application, scroll down, and you will see a few links, one of which is to a list of free vegetables.

Hi, VStable. Yes, you will find the foods we recommend in health-oriented stores, including large chains such as Whole Foods Market. You can also find them online. Best of luck!

Hi there.
Thanks ever so much for the fast response. I’m really struggling to find my way round. I’m not even sure you will receive this message. I still can’t find the recipe.. (mind you, I am blonde..)
Wishing you lots of luck and success.

Fran,
I’m new too, but I see there is a recipe provided here for granola, you might want to try it, I’m going to. I’m on day 3 and really enjoying this. Wish us both luck!

Hi All.
I’m Fran and I’ve just joined today.
Can anyone advise what is the best “Raw Granola” to buy or does anyone have a recipe for making your own?
Thanks a million

Hi all. Sorry it’s been awhile since I’ve been on here but I’ve been under the weather. Have to have a root canal! Not fun and I’m on pain meds and antibiotics. Today is the first day I’ve felt like eating so we shall see how it goes. As for making new recipes – that will have to wait til next week have to oat pancakes made up but didn’t soak the oats overnite so we shall see how those turn out. Did my snack first then the pancakes later. Welcome all the new people and just hang in there. We are all having fun getting healthy and leaner. Bev, I can see inches going but weight a little slow. That’s ok tho as long as my clothes look nice and I feel good in them. Jackiee, wish I could walk the streets of your little village with you. That would be fun. Everyone have a wonderful weeked.

Hi Lorena, welcome! You’ve come to the right place, very friendly.

Thanks Jackiee and Seaborn for the cheerful and encouraging posts…keeps me going 🙂 I’m at the lower end of my yoyo weight, hope I stay there this time. I guess I lose and gain a lot of fluid. I have the brownies on my menu for next Wed. and if I keep the lower weight, I’ll have them to celebrate 10 lb off for sure. Over a month that’s pretty good, but of course the last 3 weeks has pretty much been a plateau. Keep up the good work!

Good morning…Im Lorena from Alberta Canada and this is my first day and first post….I have every poor eating habit there is out there and at 51 yrs old, its starting to show. Only good thing is Im quite active (but apparently by my waist size, not active enough)In the last week I have cleaned out the pantry, refrigerator and cupboards and have tried to eliminate most process foods. I gave up the tough one (diet pop)and with help from this site, learn to eat a cleaner balanced program. Im having to hit the stores today in hopes of finding some of these ingredients found in the menus that I don’t readily know if our chain supermarket carries. Do you find these in a health food store? eg. rice flour, potato flour….can’t wait to get started!!!!

Ahhh…finally found you all! I was blown off-course by Cyclone Oswald here in Queensland last week and have been busy navigating my way back to our cruise ship through all the drama!!!!
I have been reading the postings every day, but just too tired and mentally over-loaded to bother with writing. But here I am….
Jackiee love…what a wonderful job you do encouraging everyone to keep going. She asked me today “Are you on strike from TrimDown?”….haha. Keep up the smiling Jackiee, it flows through the forum.
SLIMASHARON…your comment caught my eye immediately! It was like a descripton of myself love. “I’m 60 and overweight, unfit and have miscellaneous health problems, but don’t want to be a fat old sedentary woman!” That is me too Sharon.I have been on here for what? a month? Must be. I haven’t really lost enough weight to be too excited about, but I have found that with the food I am eating, I am far more energetic than I was a few weeks ago. As much as I want to get this weight off because it is no good for my joints, etc, I am so happy to be able to walk faster. I catch myself as I walk to my car and things like that, and I am amazed at how I suddenly am able go so fast. I know the weight will come off, and I will just have to keep waiting until it does. I haven’t had alcohol for 30 years, and rarely have soft drinks.I haven’t had sugar for years, and have been drinking skim milk for as long as I have been off sugar. And yet I just kept putting the weight on. I haven’t had lots of spuds, pasta, rice, bread for some years, because of my digestive system, so, I guess when I started this programme, I didn’t need to stop doing much, hence the slowness. Of course, because of the menus I am actually eating more, and eating more carbs, albeit different ones, like quinoa, and rice cakes, and gluten free products, which are working for me. My daughter says my stomach area is smaller…so that is good, and an old acquaintance saw me last week and said I looked like I had lost some weight!! I just wish the scales would start telling me that story!!! Anyway, Sharon, you just hang in there girl, and you will soon notice the changes. We have a good team on here, and there is a whole lot of encouragement on board this ship.
Hi to all the newbies…hope it all goes well for you.I have been enjoying the comments, and had a good laugh at the cheeky italian bloke…Aspensa!!! What a crack-up! I only wish I had someone to do my cooking, shopping and follow me around to make sure I actually eat my snacks Aspensa! I hate preparing food!!! Oh have I said that before??? Heheh!
Anyway must get off here…or you will all think I am a “bletherer” like our Scottish lass in Italy!!!! Our local shops are getting food back on the shelves as the trucks are finally getting through the Bruce Highway from Brisbane. Still a lot of people going through floods and fires….and many out there helping cleanup the towns and cities that were flooded. I just love how times like this bring communites together, and all kinds of people join in to help those less fortunate.
And to all my old mates….I will catch up with you all later…have a good night/day wherever you are.
Bev.

Yes, ofcourse I should download everything and read or listen, but, wow, there is a lot of info to get through. Progress, not perfection. that is my goal. Have a healthy day everyone…TGIF from Brooklyn,NY

Hi all, I’m Sharon and have started today. I’m 60 and overweight, unfit and have miscellaneous health problems, but don’t want to be a fat old sedentary woman! I think help and encouragement from the forum will be really motivational.

Good morning all, hope your all doing well, and still enjoying the plan. I’m off to do my walk in town today, change of scenery….I know it must be murder for all you folks with a heavy work load to keep up with the plan and I admire your stanima.

ksprietsma, I know you can change a lunch for a dinner for that particular day, but not 100% sure about swapping days ect, hopefully Ossie will give you a the professional response soon. I do know the diest is based on a 45-50% energy from carbs, 25-30% fat, 25-30% protein, the ration 1.5 grams protein + 1 gram fat to 3 grams carbs, if that is any help. However I would take recipes out of your breakfast section, so you don’t get them on your weekly menu planner. I personally swap raw cheese\milk for low fat\skimmed organic in recipes because I can’t find them here but I do understand I am not getting the full benefits of the recipes by swapping, but better than nothing I suppose!!! On your menu planner do you hit the refresh button beside the food option, this is great for swapping items, I was hitting it so much I ended up printing of the swap items so I can have them at hand instead of turning the computer on all the time. Do hope Ossie can give you a better professional answer soon.
Well healthy happy eating all, I’m away to get my work done and work out, take care….till next time 🙂
