![]() | You are so good, responding to everyone, Jackie, keeps us going! Thanks, Kathie, for coming in to reassure all us newbies, you are doing great! I am juggling menus, must have over 20 in my list now, I can’t have much in the way of milk products, so I end up with a lot of tuna and other fish on the menu…finally got one I can live with this week. I have a feeling the last 5 lb is going to take longer, it’s all on front, and I’ll have to up the exercise a lot. Well, cross fingers, my hips are not complaining too much and I am walking a lot. I think the healthy eating is keeping all my tissues stronger. |
![]() | Good afternoon all, hope your all well. |
![]() | Hello everyone – I just want to echo stgefun’s comments – I started 1st Feb so only 3 weeks in and if you look back to my earlier posts you’ll see that I had same concerns and doubts as the newcomers. However I’m finally losing weight albeit slowly, more important have so much more enrgy now. I do pl;ay around with the menu and don’t have raw milk products but on the whole am going with it. I do have lapsed days – yesterday for instance I had to get to work early so gulped down some granola and a banana – no chance of T-break at work and had to rush off in afternoon to a meeting munching an unsavory cheese sandwich on the way. As buses wern’t running had to walk the length of Oxford street at rather fast pace while munching an unsavory cheese sandwich which gave me the stitch and later mild food poisoning! (I’m guessing it was the sandwhich). At 4.00 I got chance to sit down and grabbed a fruit scone and butter and cappuchino. Having quaffed that I then set out for 1hrs commute home but bumped into a friend I hadn’t seen for a while and as I was beginning to feel unwell decided to join her for a drink (I do find a neat whiskey helps with stomach disorders. So that was my diet for the day – dreadful! Never-mind, I feel confident I can have an off day now and again and get back on track next day. |
![]() | stgeofun, Jackiee, Bev: stgeofun I’ve been wanting to ask if your name is Kate. I see it in some of the posts, and am not sure. Jackiee – you are such a wonderful and responsible mother!!! ‘Wee one’ has been very blessed with you as her mother 🙂 Bev – I also have sleep apnea, but have not worn the mask for several months now. I have Rosacea on my face and the first mask caused heat and moisture and made the rosacea much worse. They gave me another style and it doesn’t work good because when I sleep on my side, it moves out of place. I have given up but know I should be using it. One of these days I’ll have to go back and see what other kind of mask they might have. It’s a big bother to have to keep trying different masks. I can start out sleeping on my back but always end up on my side or on my stomach with my face to the side 🙁 I truly hope you have better results. I am having trouble getting back on my diet since I’ve been off for 1 -1/2 weeks now. 🙁 We have a terrible snow storm coming in tomorrow. In our area it is to snow 5-7 inches. In other towns in Iowa, it will snow up to 12 inches. Travel will be treacherous, so I’ll be staying in and looking at it out the window 🙂 Gotta get to bed now. 11:00 P.M. here. EVERYONE — Have a blessed day tomorrow 🙂 |
![]() | I just wanted to say to the newbies, I think we all were shocked at the amount of food we could eat on this program. But trust me, it really works! I’m sleeping really well now, because I think I was always hungry going to bed. My blood sugars are better than they every have been, and I really enjoy the menus on here. Yes it takes time to prepare meals, for me the weight is coming off very slowly, and it was a pain at first trying to find all the right foods, but luckily, my Natural Grocers carries most of what I need. I tried the raw milk and cheese. The cheese I like, the milk I don’t. So I’m using organic instead. I am in the US as well, and worried about the unpasturized aspect, so I’m more comfortable with the organic milk. |
![]() | I am new to this club. I have read so much about food and what is good and not good. It gets so confusing. yesterday soy was good, now “they” say don’t eat soy. Whole wheat is good, but other sources say no wheat or grains of any kind are good (Palio Diet. I have read “Real Foods” but it takes so much time. I am a full time working mother of teenage boys. I need quick foods I can heat in a micro at work. (lots of leftovers) Also read that Gluten is not good for thyroid disease. Most of what I see here are “real foods”. I am going to try the sprouted flour bread. We have a store here called “Wegman’s Markets” big store and they have a great Organic/international section and Gluten free. I don’t eat gluten free pasta or breads, I have just not been eating pasta at all. But I found this great snacks, almost like a granola, but gluten free. great on yogurt. |
![]() | Hello everyone finally I get a chance to chat. Oh my I am new just started this past week. I did my groceries of course I could not buy everything I wanted. These are super meals and from what I have read we can mix and match correct? Do I have to do the meals exactly as specified? Or can I mix an match. seems I just get the carrot soup done and I am on cooking something else. A ms amber emailed me amber I am doing fine. I just work too hard just done my day and its hard to get all these foods done. I will not give up nearing 60 and need to take care. I quit smoking 12 yrs ago ms norunyan and it was not hard for me but I too put on all this weight. I can’t get rid of it. and the food is so much better everything is good I dislike nothing! Katie good for you 22 lbs down that is wonderful. Jackie you hang in there with kids and school I remember those days!! I appreciate everyone’s help. |
![]() | Thanks Kathie, I joined here just to have a starting point… not sure where I’m going to end up but facing the problem head on is always a good first step. |
![]() | Hi Jndaily I can understand your plight. My daughter is gluten intolerant and has been eating gluten free for 4 years. She too was having the same problem with putting on weight. But se was eating things like gluten free home made mac and cheese and that was all fo rher dinner or lunch. Somewhere on this website there is a formula about what you should eat at every meal. Like Breakfast should be 2 starches, 2 dairy/ protein, 1-2 fat and 1 fruit. I can’t remember all the rest but it is on here somewhere. It helps to follow the menu better, or at least change around the foods and make meals you can handle. I basically use the website and meal planner as a guide. As for my daughter adding more protein, veggie and fruit to that Mac and cheese meal looks like it is working. She hasnt weighed herself yet, but her belt in now smaller. Good luck. |
![]() | I subscribed yesterday and wrote in one of these forums but now can’t find the thread I was in… Is anyone else confused about how to get around in here? |
![]() | I guess I’m not really a newbie, I started this diet on November 14th, after realizing I had an appointment with my endocrinologist on December 14th and had not lost any weight since seeing him in September. I didn’t want to disappoint him or myself. So I went on the doctors website and the Trim Down Club popped up. I figured what the heck, and decided to give it a try. I live in the U.S. and raw cheese and milk are difficult to get and frankly I haven’t been convinced that I should eat them. However, all the other foods just make good common sense. It’s basically a diet of everything you were ever taught and or read is good for you. However, I once bought into the idea that margarine is better than butter – but then read an article and gave up margerine about 5 years ago. Two of my daughters are gluten intolerant so the whole glutenfree is not new to me. |
![]() | Thanks for the pep talk, Raddison, so true. My comfort food is pizza, and I’ve figured out how to have one based on the recipe we have been given….tastes great! I’m down 15 lb today, haven’t been this light for years, and mean to go another 5 lb at least. But it’s the revolution in eating that I am enjoying the most, haven’t eaten so well for years either! Great to hear the success stories, and hang in there everyone having doubts, if you really stick to the menu, it does work. I didn’t believe it at first either…..just takes longer for some I guess. |
![]() | Good Morning Everyone,Well today I start over.It is a ongoing thing as I do this over and over.I need a attitude adjustment. The sun is shining and daffodils are blooming.Istarted the day with cereal and milk.+ a few nuts,It is the remainder of the day that I get into trouble .If I stay busy I will eat to little. If I loaf around I will want to snack. This is my pattern and I need to change.Have never talked about this to anyone, just need to remind myself that it took me many tries to quit smoking and that was 25 years ago.Cannot quit eating.Sooo I have switched to whole wheat bread. That is good and I can stick with it.One day at a time. |
![]() | Hi everyone! Speaking of menu tweak guess what I am having for dinner: 1 serving of fast food vegetable salad; 1 fast food hamburger+bun/bap and 1 ounce of brick cheese (Full fat). It’s all legal, all you have to do is to choose these items from your menu. Of course I will not reach my goal as quickly, however, soul food will help to hang on. Also, tonight I will prepare everything myself: the hamburgers with lean meat, on SWG buns on our gas BBQ. So I will try to remove the fat as much as possible and the cheese will be reduced fat mozzarella. All the trimmings are made with fresh vegetables (onions, lettuce, tomatoes) and I will also une a tablespoon of Heinz Organic Ketchup, little sea salt and Pepper, no fries. So my word of wisdom here is don’t make your menu too hard on yourself. I am 62 years old and I have like many of you been fighting forever to maintain a healthy weight. So be gentle on yourrself, add all the healthy stuff in your lifestyle, however, don’t forget soul food once in while, like burgers and steaks, otherwise you will end up starting over again and again. Been there, done that, bought the T-Shirt and threw it away. However, this time its for the long haul. Take it slowly one day at a time, learn to eat proper foods but remember your soul and adopt it for life. |
