Hi Chia – I had my kitchen done just before Christmas and it took 4 weeks, so I know what you are going through. I wasn’t dieting then but did try and eat reasonably healthily. We put the fridge & microave in the dining room so were just about OK. As you can’t use microwave or cooker only option for hot food is probably eating out or takeaways – don’t worry about it, its only 5 days and we will all help you get back on track once its over.

Bev & Jackiee: Thank you both for your pep talks. I need them. You are both good people, but maybe a little crazy in a good way! 🙂 Love you both 🙂

jackiee: I second Seaborngirl and believe your recipe sounds delicious as is. Like she says maybe you could use reduced fat cheese if its available but that’s it. Ask Ossie and see what she thinks!

Goodmorning to all my mates on the “Lifestyle Change Cruise”….what a cracker of a day here. I feel like I haven’t been out on deck for days, but it is only a couple!

JACKIE….that recipe doesn’t sound like you need to change it. Eggplant is being baked, no fats with it….you are not cooking anything with oils or fats. The cheese is the only thing you would need to check the fat level on…but it is the portions for you that will make the difference. Sounds wonderful…I might just turn up for that dinner!! I would suprised if it was a no-no love!

Now I have that out of the way….it has been good to read all the comments. Been a lot of activity and newbies….WELCOME to the newbies. The way we are going this planet will be much lighter soon!!! Lol…and the ship will be riding higher on the waves!!!!

I have been too busy to concentrate on my food intake lately. Just getting pulled away from it all, not eating at the right times, and then making up for it at night!!! Not good. But my weight hasn’t gained on the scales, and I am still noticing a change in my clothing….I don’t really understand all that, but won’t argue with it!!! As long as I am noticing the difference somewhere.

CHIA…I am amazed someone hasn’t designed a better way of treating sleep apnea…a better kind of mask would be good from what I have heard most people say. I am not looking forward to having to sleep on my back. Not sure what happens, but I get anxious when I do…I reckon I feel like I can’t breathe properly and get a tight chest. I have been trying. Maybe I need my upper half in a raised position.I will be taking that up with them when I go in for my appointment, which I am lining up right now…and I have just spoken to the lady, and she said I have it very severely (now I know why I have been so tired!!!), and about the back, she said I was only on my back for a short time, so I can sleep on my side! Yay!!! I’m so excited!!! I just can’t hide it!!! Lol.I can sleep on my side!!!

CHIA…back to you love…life must be pretty difficult right now…I am sure you will sort the food pret out though…there is always another way!!! You could cook like Raddison on a barbie!!! Our power went off all over the area the other night, and I was going to make a lasagne for Tara and her kids! We thought we would drive 20minutes into Gladstone to MacDonalds, but it was out in town as well. So I decided to get the barbecue out and just cook up a mince dish on there. It was lovely!!! Anyway, all the best with it Linda…we were meant to have a storm here…not snow of course…but we didn’t get it. Just a little bit of thunder. But Melbourne got it last night!!! Huge storm….we need it here in the north too!!!

JACKIE…I have just read your wonderful encouragement to Linda (and to the rest of us)….good on you girl…who said you were a “bletherer”???…no way…you don’t talk nonsense!!! What a great gift you have in encouragement. And now it is up to Linda to do what she will with that!! Lol…keep going Linda…you have the rest of your life to do it!!! What is that old song?
“Nothing’s impossible I have found,
For when my chin is on the ground,
I pick myself up,
Dust myself off,
Start all over again.

Don’t lose your confidence if you slip,
Be grateful for a pleasant trip,
And pick yourself up,
Dust yourself off,
Start all over again.

Work like a soul inspired,
Till the battle of the day is won.
You may be sick and tired,
But you’ll be a man, my son!

Will you remember the famous men,
Who had to fall to rise again?
So take a deep breath,
Pick yourself up,
Dust yourself off,
Start all over again.”

Heheh….I love that oldie!!!

RADDISON…good to be hearing from you more mate…always got good advice…straight from the hip!! I like it.

Anyway, I must go…been chinwagging (you see Jackie, I am not a “bletherer”) for long enough…got work to do. Bill and I are driving out to our daughters farm to pick her and the two boys up to stay with us for the weekend. The boys are missing church and seeing their mates…Rani is missing church, and yes seeing her mates as well. She isn’t allowed to drive for long because of her back so they are not getting into town as much lately.

Time to go back to the galley…see you all on deck again later…Bev.

Help…a little challenge for all you….can anyone help me adjust one of my all favourite meals to a slimmer version….Melanzane Stacks (eggplant or aubergine to some.) ingredients. large aubergine, fresh breads crumbs, beaten egg, mozzarella and thin cooked ham.
1. slice aubergine in thin slices. dip in egg and then bread crumbs…bake in the oven for 10-15mins
2. slice mozzarella and place a slice on a piece of baked aubergine and add a slice of ham, then stack another aubergine slice on top to make a stack. Make more double stacks with the remaining aubergine slices. then return to the oven for another 10 mins…. it is delicious served with salad but sure it wouldn’t count as a trim down recipe but was wondering if anyone had any idea how it could be tweaked into a healthy option? any ideas

jackiee 12 years ago

Evening all, hope you are all well….
Hat off to you RADISSON, that is commitment BBQing your burgers in that weather…think you should get the trim down gold star of the week for that alone 😀
JANICE..I think 3lbs in 10 days is good…it’s said so often on here, we’re all different and will lose different amounts at different rates, although I personally don’t like any diet that is high in one thing ie high protein. Think that’s why I chose this club…balanced eating made sense to me and the more I read on here the more I’m convinced this isn’t a diet its a healthy eating for life club (or cruise as it’s been called)…I don’t want a quick fix diet then go back to the previous eating habits….that’s why I still have my pizza night (with little tweaks…I drink 3 glasses of water while making the pizzas so I eat less when I actually sit down…
CHAI….the work on the kitchen apart..you could always class that time as a holiday…Ossie love you answer so encouraging….as for you not eating from the menu occasionally to not at all…I don’t believe you…I bet you have been making conscious choices along the way too…it makes no odds to me if you have a day off or a week or a month,, was does is that fact that your still trying or thinking of trying…stop being so hard on yourself….I bet you know enough from this plan now to make the conscious choice without even looking at the menu planner. You’ve been a great source of encouragement to so many of us, so let us give you a help in hand….remember how great you’ve been (forget the off days now there gone..past) I know your a very busy lady and the floor damage is a mega pain but you can over come anything….come on get back on board, just think how trim your be…. just staying with it..be it in a month or 6 months or even a year (time flies honestly)…right back to the work men coming in to do the work..like Radissons idea of a borrowed or hired microwave…I assume the fridge can be in dinning area, get a stock of plastic plates, knives and forks…think of all the washing up your not have to do…(unless your like me and end up washing them anyway to put in the recycle bin!!!) or cant you wash up in the bathroom for a few days with boiled water? menu wise how about soups, shakes, sandwiches, fruit and veg oh and nuts of course….you know the breads\wraps\rye crispbreads…I even made a sandwich from lettuce leaves y’day with tuna and sweetcorn inside…yummy…get the fridge stocked up with things that will last the 4-5days….you can do it…I know you can….you do so many wonderful things for so many other people… please could you do this one thing for me 😀 ….get back on the plan 😉 please…please…I’m not asking you to stick to it rigidly…just make all those right choice (most of the time or some times) and don’t bet yourself up when you don’t….please…. pretty please….I await your reply xxx
LYNNM…the 5lbs count down is on for you..YIPEEE….oh I so cant wait till I reach that, I’m down 4 kilos so far….(just 18-20 to go….haha) but my first target is 5 kilos so I only have 1 kilos to lose…before my treat (new trainers to walk on the beach)..then I’ll start the next 5kilo target 🙂 although I still love Bevs idea of losing her grandchild birth weight..maybe do that for my next target… 2 x Angelina’s birth weight (2.65kilos)= 5.30kilos more fun that way 🙂 well hope you all have a lovely weekend…my hubbys off tomorrow with a little snow so weekend starting early for us…..take care all….till next time

OSSIE & Radisson: Thanks for your ideas. I won’t be able to do dishes for cooking utensils. Sink on other side of kitchen
🙁 I will try to eat smaller portions. Will need to buy food from the local store deli for a while and use paper plates. 🙁

Jndaily 12 years ago

Radisson, thanks for the info… I’m still pretty lost on the threads. I joined one so at least can get back to one area so for now that will work.

Ossie… thanks for the 2 cents… takes away the guilt if I can”t do exactly what I’m supposed to… 🙂

It’s interesting to hear and talk to people all over having these issues with healthy eating. Seems like we all have similar challenges.

One step at a time …

Ossie-Sharon 12 years ago

CHIA – my 2 cents: if you can’t eat “on the plan” for whatever reason, just cut back on portions sizes. Remember: you don’t have to be perfect, just do a little better than you otherwise would.

Radisson 12 years ago

CHIA: I understand your predicament, we had the kitchen done in our existing and previous house. I was cooking outside on the BBQ and moved the fridge and microwave together which were accessible from the back door. If you can’t move your microwave, you can probably rent one or another thing you could do is rent an RV or a nearby cottage.

You can cook hamburgers, toasted chicken or turkey roast sandwich. Lots of salads an veggies from the free list. Make believe your on a four days picnic.

I know easy to say…bla…bla…bla.

Jndaily 12 years ago

Thanks Ossie and all for reply… Janice here…
Yes, this is so unlike any diet and I’m not real sure I’ll suceed here… I did weight watchers many years ago and actually gained weight following their program so I’m a bit skeptic.
I’m in the Denver area… big snow storm hit last night so I put on a pot of pinto beans to cook. Figure with onion and a very small ham hock, it will hopefully fit into the menu somehow. I’ll make it thin so it’s more like soup.
Haven’t figured out the menu yet… the first time I didn’t have much variety. Will play some with that and get a shopping list. Then I will be prepared to start this eating plan.
I’ve been on a protein plan for 10 days and barely lost 3 lbs so I don’t think this is going to be easy. I have alot of preconceived ideas about what is diet food that will help you loose. Also have gluten, soy and milk allergies. What a challenge! But I’m sure there’s lots others out there with similar or worse challenges.
HUGS to you all and good success with your challenge whatever it may be!

OSSIE & JACKIEE: I’m not exactly sure why I’m having trouble getting started again. I’m not motivated anymore, but want to get started. I think that I just slowly occasionally ate off the plan and it grew into not eating on the plan at all. Then we ate out several times and that really ruined. When we begin to have floor men here in the kitchen, that will be hard too if it takes them 4-5 days. The frig will be in the dining area, but the stove will have to be pulled out and the microwave will still be in the kitchen built into the wall. We won’t be able to walk on the kitchen floor because of staining and varnishing the wood, and drying in between. ANY IDEAS?

Hi, Jndaily and Radisson – the development team is working on a search function and way to organize the forums so they will be easier to navigate. Stay tuned…
Jndaily – welcome!. The amount of food in the planner is based on a healthy lifestyle long-term, and is very different from the usual temporary weight loss “diet” that is based on deprivation, often followed by rebound weight gain.
The trick with gluten-free eating is to make sure the products are not from refined flours – those can indeed pack on the pounds.
If you have been on diets before, give your metabolism some time to readjust, and consider some physical activity to give it a nudge.
If you have any other questions or concerns, please do post here – we’re all with you every step of the way.

Hi, Sunshine. You can definitely mix and match, but just be sure to have a protein item with your carbs as much as possible, be sure to get at least 5 fruits and vegetables each day, and eat the most when you are most active (don’t skip early meals and then load up before bed).

Hi everyone,
jackiee: Burgers were fantastic, it was a bit cold outside to be BBQing (-14°C/8°F), with blowing snow but I managed and it was well worthed.
