Ossie,
I’m sorry, maybe I did not go back far enough in the commentaries. I’m just glad to see that you do receive my messages. I really like this program. Today I went over next week’s menu and went to the store to get the ingredients I didn’t have. I’m hoping now my grocery bill will start to be less, now that I am stocked with all the basics. Thanks for your response.

Hi to the rest of you!
I am on spring break next week! yahoo! I really need the time to finish getting organized with this program and do some meal preparation ahead of time. I have no complaints though. I think it’s really a good program. I never believed in organic foods, (thought it was a way to charge us more at the grocery store!) haha But today I was picking organic over regular! One of our main stores here is remodeling and up-dating, and today I noticed they have dedicated three isles to health foods. I laugh a little bit though, because we have been trained on here to read labels, and all that claim to be healthy, really aren’t! Thanks Trim Down for enlightening us.

I hope you are all having a wonderful weekend and are invigorated to start another week with a Trim Down Menu!

Hi, mariarjw. Regarding meal-specific combinations of meal complexities throughout the day, I do not know of that possibility right now, but I will forward your suggestion to the tech development team.
Yes, the menus are intended to provide the optimal daily nutritional needs, however, you absolutely can substitute meals for one another, as long as they are equal in size and nutritional value. That may indeed be the solution for you in the meantime.

Hi, Karyn (vegefarmer).
Yes, the quantitis in the Menu Planner have been worked out for each individual’s weight (and height). While it is for each individual to eat all of it (to prevent possible hunger, risk of binging later, lowing down your metabolism if you eat too little), it is great if you learn to listen to your hunger and satiety signals and can pull back when you get full. You can always add “leftovers” (such as that extra rice cake) to an in-between-meal snack. Just be sure to eat most in the morning and when you are most active, and don’t make up for cutting back only in the evening, unless that is when you work out.

MARIAJW, OSSIE will give you a good answer to this but I’ve seen it said here that lunches can be swapped for dinners ect it was also said different days could be swapped too. On the menu planner try taking out the complex recipes or all of them and leave the basic foods for work in the noon section and then add recipes to the evening. I tend to have a health sandwich or soup for lunch and a cooked dinner in the evening with the family. There is also a refresh button after each food item on the menu planner, which gives you a list of what that food item can be swapped for. I done a few menu plans before I seen this button, it a blessing and makes sticking to the plan much easier. Keep us all informed how you get on and good luck.

I joined a few weeks ago but only now got around to downloading the pdf’s and getting into the meal planner. Is there a way to tell the meal planner to give easy lunches (as in few recipes) and make dinners more complex? I tried 3 different ways to plan the menus and have not arrived at the right combination. Also, are the menus intended to provide the optimal daily nutritional needs or can lunches from one day (as in easy menu) be substituted for the more complex ones?

I wish all of you the best of success in achieving your weight loss and health goals.

ppeddle: I’ve have lots of hard things happen to me, including having my job closed down before I was ready to retire and going through a hugh mess with it. As I looked back after a while from each negative thing that happened to me, I could see that God did close the door but always opened a window and it was always better. I will pray that will happen here too! 🙂

JACKIEE: I liked the advice you gave ppeddle about the SWG English Muffins. GREAT ADVICE 🙂 I need to take it too 🙂

Oh forgot to say PPEDDLE…my prayers are with you during this stressful time. Have experienced payoffs and closures at work 3 times in my life…difficult times. A word of warning though, maybe you should hold of buying the swg muffins during this stressful time as I remember CHIA did say they are DELICIOUS, thought I’d warn you because when I’m stress I don’t keep anything yummy in cupboards to tempt me. Thinking of you and your friends. Take care x

Kjean – Thanks. That’s what I’m trying to keep in mind. It’s not the first time I’ve lost my job…this is the job though that I’ve loved the most. I was at a workshop a few weeks ago and an icebreaker question was name your dream job… honestly, I’m currently working it. I also bought a house last year. But like you said, looking back, everything bad that has happened to me has actually put me in a better place, so I’m keeping faith that this will be true here and whatever happens is what is meant to be. God closes a door but opens a window, sort of thing.

I like structure and routine, so all this uncertainty and change wreaks havoc on me. Fortunately I do bounce back fast so I just gotta make it through the next few weeks.

I have that iPhone app! But I have a better motivation. 10 years ago I was at my ideal weight, so I keep a picture close to remind me that I was there once and can be there again. It’s only 70 lbs away…LOL

Hi Everyone, hope your all well and still eating healthy. My folks are away now 🙁 but had we had such a lovely time when they were here, 2 birhtday parties. one for family and the other for angelina wee friends, so a bit tired. I didn’t say no to the cake either and we have had meals out with friends ect….but on a whole I only gained 1\2 kilo…now I am shocked I expected the scales to be show more gain than that after my naughty nibs…but I did stick to the plan most of the week, and no one noticed htey were actualy eating the diet to 😉 getting good at that. I whole grain bread I found could actually be swg too, the ladies were chatting about it, but from what I made out it’s sounds like it is actually swg bread, which all the family liked apart from the little one…not to worry she was brought up on whole wheat bread so after being presented with this after 40-50 times she might start to eat it when there nothing else on the table 🙂

It been great reading everyone post sorry I’ve not been congratulating you or encouraging much of late but it’s all go with visitor and at the end of the day I just managed to read.
However can go without saying DAWN so glad to heat your more settled now and eating better, it was wonderful to see that message because I was wondering how you were getting on.

@ppeddle – that really sounds extremely stressful. Keep your head up and try to remember that things happen for a reason. I lost my job 10 years ago, 6 months after getting a divorce and 3 months after purchasing a $269,000 home by myself! I was terrified to say the least. It took me 9 months to find a job and I almost lost the house, but looking back – I can honestly say I am better for the experience. Take it slow – don’t overthink it. If you end up with a new boss, think possitive. Better things are waiting for you! There’s this iPhone App that you can download, that will take a picture of you and then take the weight off you – it’s amazing to see what you’ll look like with 25lbs off!!! If that’s not motivation – nothing is! Good luck!

Thanks, Ossie. I guess moderation and what common sense I might have will have to prevail in my case.

My hat is off to all of you nice people that work hard at maintaining the guidelines put forth by TrimDown. It takes a lot of dedication and I know it will pay off for you.

Hi all,
This is gong to be a very challenging few weeks for me. I’m a big stress eater and this week alone has been brutal. There’s mass layoffs happening where I work…160 people let go this week. I was fortunate to survive this round but one of my good friends was not so fortunate. There’ll be another 300 or so people let go at the end of the month. The project team I work with has been dissolved so even if I survive the layoffs my work will be different including having a new boss.

I had the day off yesterday so I spent the time planning how to minimize my stress eating. I created a wicked recipe book from the recipes on this site to make it easier to access. Later today (after I do my Income Tax -yuck!) I’m creating a one month menu. That should eliminate the take- out meals if there’s a bad day. Snacks are going to be my weak point….I overdo the portions when I’m stressed.

On a good note I did manage to lose 3 lbs. I’m back on the treadmill at 5:30 in the morning on Mon, Wed, and Fri and use weights on Tue and Thu.

Oh, and I decided to get the swg bread and it is delicious!!! I’m hooked…I’m going to get some English Muffins when I get groceries on Sunday, and maybe some bagels too. I wish I could get the flour because I bet it would be irresistible homemade and fresh out of the oven.

Have a happy weekend everyone!

Oh and Nancy…I forgot to say, the masks are horrible…I am trialling a different one this week, but might return it Monday or Tuesday…this one keeps me awake with it’s “music”….yes, music…the air comes out of it during the night where it shouldn’t and it squeaks!!! Terrible thing!!! Lol. So I will find another to try! The sleep apnea will probably go away when I lose weight…so got to get this weight off!!!! It isn’t moving right now…but it will one day….of course…Bev.

Seaborngirl 13 years ago

Evening all….well, some are sleeping, some are about to have dinner, some are eating breakfast, some are just rising with the sun…but most of us are eating I bet!!!
GINNERLOU…Ijust wanted to say….I do much the same thing with my breakfast of eggs etc, and use a banana, sprinkled with a bit of cinnamon and stevia. Used to be lovely with butter and cinnamon and sugar in the old days, but now it is just stevia and no butter!!! Lol….but still yummy.
NANCY…I missed a comment you made yesterday about the storms and my mask. The storms are not bad here, as we are in a subtropical area of Queensland….more up north in the monsoon patch…but just now and then we will get a good dose of thunder and lightning, which I love, and don’t feel we have had a good wet season unless we get at least one of those storms!!! Lol. But we have a cyclone that developed off the coast up north, that has moved out to sea above Honiara, and is expected to build up before returning to terrorise us all!!! They are terrible things, as any of you Americans would know who go through Hurricanes, etc. But we in Central Queensland, and other parts of the country, rely on cyclones in our wet season, for the rain depressions that follow them…those are the things that bring the floods which we don’t want, but it is the only way we get the water for our arid land.
Must go…cooking dinner, and my husband and I are about to have a very competitive game of scrabble while I cook!!! Cheers everyone….Bev.
