| | Hello every one. Sorry I have been out of the picture for a while. Been in and out of the hospital with really bad head aches. I am feeling better now but back to ground 0. I am ready to start losing weight again. It worked before so I have no doubt that I will. Have a great day everyone. |
| | Sounds good |
| | Thanks, Roxie. |
| | Hi, roxxy38. The recipe looks great. I would just suggest to replace the 50/50 flour with half whole wheat flour and half brown rice flour (for softness) instead of having any refined white flour in there. |
| | Apensa, if my last post will pass TDC then their website will give you wonderful recipes. Hodgson Mill. |
| | Hi Ossie, Thanks! Oat Bran Wheat Rolls 2 pkgs. HODGSON MILL FAST-RISE YEAST1/2 c warm water, 100-110 degrees F. 1 1/2 c skim milk, scalded 1 1/2 c HODGSON MILL OAT BRAN HOT CEREAL1 1/2 tsp salt 1/2 c sugar 3 Tbsp. butter 5 1/2 c HODGSON MILL 50/50 FLOUR 1 egg, beaten vegetable oil to coat a large bowl and several baking sheets Add yeast to 1/2 cup warm water and let stand for 10 minutes. Combine milk, oat bran hot cereal, sugar, salt, and butter; cool to lukewarm. Stir in 2 cups 50/50 flour and mix well (you may use a mixer). To this, add beaten egg and yeast mixture and mix well. Add remaining 50/50 flour to make a soft dough. Put dough in oiled bowl, turning once to coat thoroughly. Cover with a damp towel and allow to rise in a warm, draft-free place until doubled, about 1 hour. Knead down and allow to rise for a second time for 1 hour. Turn dough onto a lightly floured surface. Shape into a ball, cover and let rest 10 minutes. Preheat oven to 375 degrees F. Cut the ball into fourths, then cut each fourth into 6 wedges. Shape wedges in smooth little balls. Place balls of dough on prepared baking sheet, about 2 inches apart. Snip balls almost to center in 3 places to make cloverleaf rolls. Bake 15 to 20 minutes, until rolls are golden brown. Makes 24 rolls. Each roll: 160 calories; 3 g dietary fiber; 6 g protein; 30 g carbohydrates; 3 g fat (less than 1 g saturated fat);9 mg cholesterol; 170 mg sodium. |
| | Hi Everyone, |
| | Does anyone have a recipe for bran muffins that would fit into the TDC way of eating? The recipe my wife has contains bran and regular flour. |
| | Ossie, a question for you. The stevia syrup is quite expensive so could I substitute the Agave syrup instead? It isn’t so costly. |
| | Whoopee1 One week into the program and I have lost 3 pouds! Find I cannot eat that much food so that may have conributed a bit to the loss. I’m 83, lead a rather sedentary life because of back and leg problems so really don’t need that much food. I’ll keep right on it! |
| | ppeddle: I thought it was you but was not sure. Anyway, thanks. Already did my walk this morning. Starting out at a lot faster pace than when I first took your advise. Hopefully I can increase the time too. If anyone does try one of those “miracle pills”, I’d love to hear what the result was. I watched a documentary on Netflix last night that was all about eating natural foods and juicing of fresh vegitables. I almost thought I was watching something from the TDC. There was no sponsor of the program. Anyway, if you subscribe to Netflix, you might want to look it up. |
| | APENSA: I never had a chance to post yesterday, but I thought it strange too that a site that promotes eating healthy offers ads for pills and stuff. I admit that curiousity did bite me on one of the ads and I ordered a product to try (I’m almost shamed to admit that because I don’t believe in pills that suppress your appetite or burn the fat for you, but this one seemed different and after a few days the curiousity was still nagging at me). I figure I’ll try it and know…if it helps, great, if it doesn’t help then I won’t be wondering and tempted by future offers. I’m really glad to hear STGEOFUN tried something too. Otherwise, I find some of the ads have some good information and sometimes some decent recipes so overall I don’t mind getting them and just delete the ones that have nothing useful to me. And I might be the one who inspired you for the treadmill…I have posted a couple times that I crawl out of bed in the mornings and go straight for the treadmill. In fact, we chatted a few weekends ago about it, and how we’re both “get everything ready the night before” people…lol. I’m glad you’re sticking with the treadmill too. Now you’re inspiring me to stick with it. 🙂 It’s a holiday for us today so I’m a little slow getting to it this morning and decided to have a coffee first and read the news, but as soon as I finish posting this I’m grabbing my Kobo and heading for the treadmill. |
| | Stgeofun: Thank you so very much for addressing my post. I’m glad that I am not the only one that is ignoring the “sales pitch”. I keep coming back to the issue that if this was some sort of medical break through and with as many people that there are dealing with Diabetic issues and that darned belly fat why oh why have not all our medical professionals prescribed, mentioned or even suggested this stuff or products having similar claims. I cannot bring myself to believe that medical professionals would actually opt to keep a person sick to keep them coming back. Maybe I am too naive. The real issue I have here and one that you very forgivingly mentioned is why is TDC sending us this stuff. I’d be willing to make book that they are going to get a kickback from the vendor. People here are really struggling and trying to do something good for themselves. I think unless they have proof positive TDC should just stick to dietary advice and assistance. If this stuff is so good, TDC should send us all a 30 day trial free of charge. If it works, I’ll be glad to pay for it and future supplies. By the way, I can’t remember who it was that told us they walk first thing in the morning right out of bed, but a big thank you to them. I’ve been walking every day on the treadmill and increasing speed and time. Lost a little bit of weight but still have the “love handles”. |
| | apensa…I bought a product from one of those ads sent by TDC, and I can’t really see that it is doing anything for me. However, what I am now doing, as they send me something almost every day, is just read their advice (most of which is good) and don’t go to the sells pitch part of the e-mail. lol It helps to reinforce what I am doing on TDC, but their program seems to be opposite of what we are doing here. Although, I am losing slowly. This program makes more sense to me, so I’m going to stick with it. What do you think? Bev…I have enjoyed making the recipes, but I am now so busy, I have decided to make a new menu selection, and this next week should be much easier. I am also leaving for Hilton Head, SC on Thursday and will be gone for 10 days, so I will try to keep to this plan the best I can, but I know I will not be able to be as strict with it, as I have been. I’m not always good, however. I don’t want to give anyone that impression! lol I made St. Patrick Cupcakes for the young women in my church today. I coaxed even the teachers and some passer-bys to take some so I wouldn’t have them left over. I was successful at getting rid of all of them but one…yep, I did have a cupcake today! But I ate it with no guilt! My healthy dinner just said, I haven’t binged, I just took a minor detour…I’m back on track now1 lol Have you had your iron levels checked? I was anemic awhile back (a couple of years) they discovered that I had an ulcer. That took a long time to recover from and get built up again. You might want to check it out! Smooth sailing for all of us! That’s my wish! Night! |
