Hi, GinnerLou. For muffins, can use all of those flours if they are in combination in the proper proportieons. Quinoa is the closest to wheat flour, rice flour is the lightest with the least structure, coconut requires more moisture, but if used together in equal proportions with a small fraction being bran and an extra 1/4 cup liquid or whole egg for every 1/4 cup of coconut flour, you should be fine.

Hello everyone. It is afternoon here in good old Texas. The kids just got from school, and we had a snack of tuna and sliced apples. I have drunk six out of my 10 8oz glasses.
wooohooo. I am doing good for my third day I think. I don’t feel hungry at all and I am full and satisfied. This one of the thing I love about this program. I am eating more food in the right portions, and in the right combinations. Thank You Trim Down Club.

As for everyone else. Just hang in there and keep up the great work. Have a great rest of the day, and Happy Healthy Eating. I missed you all and its great to read all of the comments.

Hi, BM38. Hopefully you are getting regular check-ups and care from a healthcare professional for your lipid issues. I’m sorry to say, but with your level of triglycerides, fruits are not your friend, other than those thought of as vegetables, such as zucchini. In the zucchini family are the sweet fruits with the lowest sugar content – melons; other sweet fruits in the low-medium sugar range include fresh berries and pomegranate. If you really love fruit, try eating just 1/2 portions twice per day instead of whole, and never juice.
Limiting your sugars, especially fructose (in fruits, honey, agave, non-diet soft drinks, and regular sugar, which is partly made from fructose), is as important as limiting fats and “bad” fats for your lipid profile. Recommended are brightly-colored non-starchy vegetables, especially with extra-virgin olive oil and lemon juice, nuts and seeds, whole-grain cereals such as oats and rice bran, legumes, and fresh herbs such as oregano, rosemary, and of course, garlic.

Ossie, Any chance you can give us a run down on King Arthur Whole Wheat flour. My wife bought some for a banana bread recipe she ran into. I used it last night as a flour coating for some chicken breasts I sauted in Olive Oil and butter. I read the package and it appears that all they do is grind the wheat and package it.

anna: Definitely. Give the goat cheese a try. I’m sure that my experiencing a lack of taste is because since I had that cold/bronchial infection….what ever it was, I don’t taste a darn thing. Everything taste, or doesn’t taste, the same. I can barely pick up distinctive odors. Everything I have read indicates that it will pass……I hope so.

Hello to you all. Its great to read all the post. Seaborngirl, thank you. Dorothea310, You go girl. We are counting on you to represent. I am so happy to see how well everyone has been doing. To day has been my second day back on board with the rest of the passengers. I was abele to drink all of the water I needed to and checked them off one by one. I just get so exited when I check of the items off of my menu. It gives me a visual of how well I am doing.
Apensa, I don’t believe I have ever tried goat cheese. I just may have to go try it out myself. The lack in flavor may be that there is less salt in it, which is good for many different health reasons.
Wish me luck everyone. I am so looking forward to my day three.
Take care everyone and Healthy Eating to you all.
Anna

Ossie, I am wanting to make bran muffins from scratch and have quinoa, brown rice, coconut flours and bran. I just don’t know which flours to use with the bran to make them. Still unsure which flours to use where when baking. Thanks for your help. Loving my new way of healthy eating!

Stageofun: that goat cheese does not seem to have much flavor as compared to other cheeses. Do you find that?

Anybody: have any of you had a bout where you cannot really taste anything? Since I had that upper respiratory infection last month, I have noticed that I can’t taste anything. I can sense spicyness, saltiness and a little bit of some foods, but I really don’t taste anything. My coffee tastes like hot water with “something” else, I can taste wheat bread….sort of. Gees, don’t tell me that is the next thing to go as I age. Pretty soon I’m going to have to go back to the Vodka…..LOL.

Morning everyone…well from Queensland anyway…Lol.
I have been reading all the comments, just trying to get over my tiredness…going back to bed after dropping my husband to work, which puts my day out completely of course…hard to keep up with all the food then. Anyway, I am beginning to get used to having a “thing” on my face and I think I am sleeping a bit better, which is great. If it keeps up I might have a check to see if something else is going on to make me so sleepy. KATIE…you asked about my iron…it is fine, I am on iron tablets. Everything is fine…heart, kidneys, liver, thyroid….no diabetes….apparently I am a picture of health…haw haw haw!!!
KATIE…you have a wonderful time away, and I am looking forward to seeing some lovely photos on FB. Sounds great….
ANNALEERAMOS….good to see you on deck love….all the best.
JACKIE…she will be very tired with all her hard work she is doing….probably lose a few pounds this week after it all.
APENSA…good to see you doing so well mate…and losing a bit of that “muffin-top”…lol. Feels good hey?
I have a busy day today…and then we will drive out to our daughter’s property to help her celebrate her birthday…35 years. Going to patronise a pizza cafe with some friends in a little town just south of them…for something different…and then go home for a movie with her and the kids.
So, everyone, I must be off…welcome to the newbies…hope all goes well for everyone…Bev.

Apensa, I was the one to suggest SWG toast with goat cheese. I’m glad you like it! It’s one of my favorite treats. We just have to deal with the packaging of the cheese! lol I actually squeeze it all out of the package into a plastic container with a lid and store it in my fridge. It’s much less messy that way.

Luckylady…your kale treat sounds worth trying. I’ll have to do that when I return from vacation. I’m leaving tonight for 10 days. I’m going to Atlanta, GA, Hilton Head, SC, Beufort, SC, and Savannah, GA. It’s a nice part of the USA. BTW, I didn’t think my questions from Ossie were being answered either. I think you just have to go back far enough to find them. Good luck!

Seaborn…I’ll be thinking of you as I look out over the Atlantic Ocean. Looking forward to seeing the dolphins and shore birds.
I’m really going to try to stick to the program while I’m gone (my friend is willing too because I have been giving her some of my food that I prepare, and she has liked it. I just hope I can find a health food store on Hilton Head Island!) I know I won’t be 100% at eating this way the whole time I am gone, but I’ll try my best.

Everyone keep motivated…I want to hear good reports when I return!

Got a delicious snack-kale crisps.
Remove leaves from a bunch of kale and cut into 1 1/2 in. pieces. Lay on baking sheet and toss with olive oil. Sprinkle your favorite spice on them ( I use garlic salt) then into a 275 oven for about 20 minutes, turning half way through. Yummy. Do questions for Ossie go on this page or somewhere else for I never see ana answer to my question if I post it here.

Say, has anyone found a “non-messy” way to handle goat cheese? Mine came vacuum packed and a lot of the cheese stuck to the wrapper where I had to scrape it off of the wrapping. Whomever mentioned the other day that they had a snack of SWG bread spread with goat cheese….Thank you. Not bad and quick……………..once you get it off the wrapper…LOL.

Another question. How many of us have actually read the Ezeceil SWG bread wrapper? I did not realize that our Ezeceil was the same guy I ran across in the Old Testiment.

Go get ’em, Dorothea! Good Luck. That is a great idea you had of getting that started at work. A little competition might be just the trick to give everyone a boost.
