| | Hi, Suzy1954. Try gradually cutting back on the wine so you don’t feel the amount shrinking, but eventually you get to only a few ounces a glass, and not more than one glass per day.. |
| | Hi, Apensa. Yes, wine is easier on the system, especially if it is alcohol-free. Not everyone likes the taste, so a smaller amount (say, half a glass) can be a compromise. |
| | Hello Everyone, Life is good I have been very busy and have not had a chance to write to everyone. My latest recipe try was the spanish rice. I don’t what went wrong but the rice was not right with no texture what so ever. All those great peppers and all will have do make this recipe differently next time. One recipe also with the egg whites and almonds didn’t like these either. To date the pumpkin still my favorite. I am so happy to be on this program eating the right foods, its a good thing. I have been keeping busy spring is here at long last and planting will begin as well. I can’t wait to put in my garden as well all those veggies yum plus walking weather. I am sorry I have not written but read everything. Life is good folks I am down 5 lbs and I can see different in my thighs and belly, thinking I am doing something right. I like knowing I am eating healthy I sleep better my thinking is better and don’t miss all that sweet stuff I use to snack on all the time. I love fruits and dig into those if need be. My physical comes up soon and I hope my cholestrol is better than the last time. I just don’t want to have to take pills for it. So time will tell. Thank you all for sharing your thoughts and recipes and ossie for being there for us. All the best to all until the next time I have a moment to write. |
| | Welcome, Suzy and Lisa. Lisa, you wore me out just reading your exercise routine. My hat is off to you. Suzy, I know what you mean about the wine. My suggestion is to switch to Vodka. If you stick to that, pretty soon you won’t care……LOL. Seriously, I used to enjoy a drink or two of Vodka at night, so I understand what you are saying. It does make a difference though. I know it is not the same, but have you considered the non alcoholic wine. At least you won’t have the alcohol to turn into sugar. If you can do that, I guaranty you will really appreciate that occasional glass of wine you do allow yourself. Hey, I’m no authority, so Ossie will have to chime in on this. Lucky…..rhubarb….wow….that takes me back to my childhood. There is a place in Southern California, USA called Knott’s Berry Farm. They served the best rhubarb pie!!! Were you able to at least enjoy the rhubarb filling? |
| | I tried the strawberry, rhubarb tart but the crust was a disaster! Chilled, it cracked trying to get It into the pan; room temperature was worse so I just patted it into the pan. Now, when I slice it, the crust is like a powder or shortbread. Anyone have better luck? |
| | Hi everyone I’m Suzy ,I’m also new with this program. I can get so busy sometimes with work and all.Anyway what I’m really trying to say is that I’m at a standstill with my weight and I want to lose. I love finding new healthy recipes to make. I think my problem is.I like to drink my wine too much at night. What can I do about it? |
| | After hearing all the benefits derived from a scalp massage with coconut, I gave it a try. It really did not seem to help that much and my head kept sliding off my pillow……………LOL. |
| | SEABORNGIRL & inastrvl: Thank you both for your comments about coconut oil. I’ll have to try it on my hair and dry skin. 🙂 I have a large tub of the solid, not liquid that I ordered from Dr. Mercola some time ago. In the states, he’s very much into health products, supplements with the best ingredients from all over the world, healthy foods including some raw foods (meats), etc. He has been on Dr. OZ TV show. He has his own company on supplements that he creates. He’s from the state of Illinois. Look him up on mercola.com. He has almost any supplement you might need, and lots of videos on his products, that are very interesting. He’s very knowledgeable. I get my probiotic from him. |
| | Aha!!! Good to see INASTRVL is another coconut oil user and can back up my story for you CHIA! |
| | Morning to you all….it was terrible hearing the news last night about the fertilizer blast in West, Texas! After the Boston tragedy it must be tough on a lot of people in America right now…my heart goes out to you all. CHIA….I know coconut oil reduces protein loss in hair, whether it has been damaged or not. It is a cosmetic favourite in the tropics. It repels water, so it is good on things like leather…not sure how long it takes to dry, but with any oil you would need to rub in well, and leave to settle. I would just wipe before I used the shoes or belt or what ever anyway. As for the hair, I used to rub in a small amount (like a nickel size, but more if you need it). I would leave it in for a few hours while I did my daily stuff, and then wash out as usual. Yes, it might need a couple of good washes, but I remember it leaving the hair feeling lovely and it had a great shine to it. I used it on my skin as well, but those were the days I lived on the beach and in the sea. These days, I don’t do that as much, and don’t live in the tropics, but in winter I get dry itchy skin, and use an oil mixed into my normal moisturiser. I have been looking for a tub of organic coconut oil for cosmetic purposes, so when I start using it again, I will let you know how it goes. But I suggest you try the oil you have…give it a go on the hair. KATIE…great to see you are doing so well mate….I laughed about the “crikey” comment…I didn’t mean it to be funny, but in hindsight, I guess it would have come across that way!!! It is a word I don’t use too often these days, but it just comes out sometimes when I am expressing myself strongly!!! Oh dear!!! Trust you to find it funny….lol…you sound like me…I love languages, and have always been fascinated by the way they are used in different countries and cultures. Anyway, I must be off here…got a busy day…it was my best mate’s birthday last week, and she is working full-time over the next couple of weeks. We are driving out to have a “sleep-over” on their farm tonight, and I am cooking a roast pork and vegetables for her. Got a big day coming up, so I have to move!!! Have a great day everyone….Bev. |
| | I have been using coconut oil for my hair as a conditioner at night. It soaks in and makes the hair healthy not greasy. I also use it for my skin after my shower. It is really great and this is what I bought it for. |
| | I tried the chicken and black bean quesadillas today. I thought they were very good. I like the SWG tortillas, however, they do not stick together as well as the flour ones. I like the texture and taste much better though. |
| | Seaborngirl: Wouldn’t it be awfully greasy and oily to get out of hair? Is it more for the scalp, or making the hair healthy? Will it dry pretty quickly on leather? Do you just put a nickel or dime size amount in your hand and rub it into the skin? Will it soak in fast? I don’t like lotions or oil that stay oily for a long time and then get on clothes. |
| | I am starting Day 15 and now have a loss of 3 1/2 pounds. It is getting easier to follow the program. I am never hungry and the fact that I eat at home for all of my meals with the exception of Saturday when I have a lunch out. This is a good way to live, not being hungry or feeling guilty for over eating. Thanks for your encouragement. |
| | Ossie, thanks for the advise. These products can be so confusing. Someone tells you it is so much better for you, someone else says it isn’t. I think I’m going to stick to my organic skim milk. lol I don’t use that much of it anyway. Ina…I have been a diabetic for 8 years now. I am a student (in a relaxed way). I am retired and our university offers classes for retirees. They are taught by volunteers, some are retired professors, but others just have an interest in their topic. There is no testing, it is purely for enjoyment and increases my knowledge and keeps me thinking! I love it! I took seven classes last semester! I dropped that last pound today…now I’m back where I left off before vacation! lol I have upped my exercise, and I think that is what did it. I keep waiting for life to slow down, but I don’t think it’s ever going to, so we just have to keep trying to do our best. Good Luck Everyone! |
