Hi apensa,
Definitely the nibbles need to change. I like chocolate way too much and Hills Bros mocha cappuccino, even if it is the sugar free variety. On Wednesday evening after church my husband likes to make the Braum’s run! Maybe I should content myself with iced tea, but Braums is tough! Also need to control my eating of nuts. Mostly its just going overboard on the snacks. Today, eating six mini meals kept me so full I didn’t crave snacks and had to remind myself to eat them. This may be the change I need to make: 6 meals.

Welcome and good luck, hasleton. We are the same age but fortunately outside of a recent knee injury, I don’t have any medical problems…..just not as trim as I used to be. I’ve lost several pounds just adhering to the advice I have found here, but I’ll be darned if I know from where….LOL. You sure seem to have a leg up with your healthy eating habits. Any chance just changing what you nibble on could help?

Hi, I’m just starting on Trim Down Club. I’m 71, been a diabetic for about 15 years. I’ve been pretty much vegan for the past 5 years because of IBS symptoms when I eat meat or anything greasy. We live in the country and raise most of our own vegetables organically so the veggie part of this diet is easy for me. Getting off artificial sweeteners is not easy though. I have some habits I need to break. Snacking inappropriately is one of them. This Trim Down lifestyle fits as close to everything I’ve been reading as any I’ve seen. Hopefully it will help me bring it all together and I’ll reach the goal of losing some weight and giving up some of my diabetes medicine.

It’s been awhile since I have posted to the newbies, but wanted everyone to know, that with a few detours during vacation and company, I am back on track. Today I dropped another pound, which makes a total of 15 since Jan. 28. Slow but sure. I don’t know if it is because it is summer and I am not as scheduled, or what, but I am getting lazy in my food preparations. I am taking the convient way out right now, but my fridge and shelves are stocked with a ton of stuff. I really have got to get back to cooking a bit more. I’m loving the fruits in season right now, and I’m probably eating a little too much of them, but they sure are good! I’m off to the gym a little late this morning because I decided to get some of my housework done and some of my reading done this morning before I left for the gym. I stayed in all day yesterday, and that tends to make me a little down, so I thought I’d mix up the day with a little work, then the gym, etc. It helps to break up my day, a bit. So, I will catch up later on everyone’s posts and wish you all good luck!

Gee, Chia, what you said about your upcoming surgeries make my knee problem seem like a trifle. Good luck. I just got a call back from my doctor’s office and they have agreed to see me for the knee. Problem is the first appointment is not until July 29. Your dietary advice is just about the way I eat. I don’t have the protein shakes all the time…just when my wife decides to make them. Outside of that it is salads and lean meat…..oh, yeah, an occasional dinner out…..like tonight, tomorrow and the next day. What’s a guy to do when he is so popular…..LOL

Apensa: Be sure you eat 8 oz of lean mean meats per day for dinner only. You can divide that up into 2 different meals if you want to, but dinner is best. Only bake or grill your meats. No breading or fat oils. I use good Olive oil.

APENSA: Sorry, I keep thinking of something else to write after I submit my post 🙂 If you eat lean meat proteins and use a good protein in shakes and use them sometime everyday and watch the bad fats, eat good veggies and fruit with less carbs and sugars, you will automatically gain muscle and lose fat.

APENSA: I forgot to mention that I need back surgery and a left knee replacement. I’m trying to put it off this summer because I don’t want to be laid up while the weather is nice to be outside. I’m doing aquatic therapy and will start the lumbar stretchng table next week along with my other therapy.

Hi apensa: Congratulations on losing 12 lbs. That’s great! You’re losing, not gaining and that’s all that counts. Losing slowly is actually better because your body can adjust better to keep it off. And the fact that you are learning about the right foods to eat is a blessing for you. On my diet I have lost 23 lbs. 30 lbs to go. I’m wearing smaller clothes now and that’s such a good feeling and an incentive 🙂 For me, the secret is to eat more good proteins (Try not to eat hardly any sugar. Sugar is poison and cancer loves to grow on sugar. Keep up the good work 🙂

Hi, Jude, and welcome. I guess in a way this forum is ill-named since many of us are really no longer newbies and 2013 is well along but the spirit of the forum is still present. It is wonderful that you have jumped in and are doing well.

Hey, Chia. How you been? I actually wrote to ossie in another forum to see if this was still going. I’m still laid up to a certain extent with this knee injury. I have good days and bad days. I don’t deserve it but I have lost 12 pounds in weight since I joined in and God knows I don’t strictly adhere to the guidelines. At least I have a sense of better eating habits. I just wish my body would look a little more like I lost the weight. Still carrying the unused “love handles” and belly flab. Since the knee injury I have had to quit my morning regimen of walking on the treadmill…..I hope Peddles doesn’t think I let her down. My wife, however, coaches me into doing the upper body workout with dumbbells.

Be good, everyone.

APENSA: I was thinking the same thing, but I think everyone is very busy in the summer time as I am. Have great Summer!

Is this forum still active. I haven’t seen any posts for quite some time?
