Oh, Apensa 🙂 We animals need extremes to balance things out, because moderation is so, so, so tough for human nature….

Ossie….I love you but you have a knack of turning a glass of wine into………well, let’s just say I’ve had dates like you…..lol.

Hi, Rita. A 4 fl oz (120 ml) glass of dry red wine is equal to a carb+fat exchange, or about a slice of bread with a teaspoon of butter.

Rita……can I come over and we can discuss the alternatives while we both share a glass????? LOL

I have a glass of red wine each nite when I get home from work. My job is high stress and on the go every second. The wine relaxes me and I refuse to give it up. Is there a food that I can cut off instead? LOL

PToloney…..Always glad to see another youngster the same age as myself joining. Isn’t the truth. The weight just seems to want to match our advancing years and I’ll bet that you suffer from the same problem I have…….the mind doesn’t age with the body. I have found most invaluable the advise and some of the dietary hints that I get here. I have quit my daily two martini end of the day drinks and I really think it has had a lot to do with my weight loss. I was never overly over weight, but that darn around the middle flab just doesn’t seem to want to go away…..I also find myself having to increase my bra cup size……LOL. Anyway, not sure if you are he or she but welcome, read and do what you can.

Hi, I have just joined too and I am 71. I lost 2 stones on another diet 3 years ago but since retiring I have noticed that my weight has been increasing gradually. Time to do something about it so here I am. It’s good to have like minded people to have discussions with. Sometimes friends don’t want to know!

Hi, TerrieS. If you are used to skipping meals, it may be that the lunch is large for you at this point. Since the afternoon snack tends to be the smallest of all the meals, try reducing the size of your lunch and increasing the afternoon snack to balance out the intake. That may help

jhazelton: I believe to add your picture, click on your name in the upper right hand side that is all in orange. That will bring up your profile and you click where your picture will go and then click to add your picture/avatar. You browse to where the picture you wish to add resides. Click on it and follow the directions to add it to your profile. I hope this will be of help to you.

Hi all
Im new to this plan, a whole 3 days now! Ive had a weight problem ALL my life from chubby child, to fat teenager to extremely overweight adult. In the last 4 years I have started to tweak and change the way I viewed food and managed to lose 39 pounds, however Im still currently 206 pounds and reached stalemate despite going from taking little or no exercise to brisk walking on the treadmill for 45 mins 5 times a week (did try gentle running but the knee complained probably due to too much impact). So anyway, after researching I found TDC and decided to give it a try.

Im finding it hard as it seems to be so much eating! Im one of these that forget to eat, and then when I do eat I feel guilty for eating due to being so overweight. In general, as a family, we do not eat processed foods and I cook everything up from fresh ingredients…that said, Ive found some interesting tweaks. The only problem Im finding in the last 3 days is extreme tiredness kicking in around 2pm despite me taking lunch around 1pm.

So far, so good. Today was one of those on the run days. I ate oatmeal with apple for breakfast, took along a snack of string cheese and walnuts as I went out the door and ate it at 11:30, in the car. Returned home from my library program at 3:00 hungry and a little low on blood sugar, a little shaky. I had leftover quinoa and bean salad, avocado, and Greek yogurt with blueberries & blackberries. Very satisfying and on target. Now I have to go buy supplies because the next time I come in hungry I want to have the right foods at hand, or I’ll remember the Twix and ice cream in the freezer.

Yes, hasleton, I know what you mean. My biggest downfall was having a couple of vodkas or martinis every night. I really enjoyed them but it all turns to sugar. Well, I just don’t buy any booze now, but I will have a glass of red wine now and then. You just have to get your weak points away from you. I’ll have a fistful of almonds now and then but trying to keep them away too. My hat is off to you for sticking to the “mini meals”. I never could do that. That is another one of my problems….I forget to eat. I know it is hard to deprive yourself but if you don’t have the things that tempt you around, you can’t eat them. Good luck.
