Out with the Bad Fat and In With the Good Fat

If you want to make a simple start in cancer prevention, then it’s all about taking on a low fat diet. This isn’t to say that you go without fats at all since they are an essential part of what our body needs to function and repair. It’s all about getting rid of the bad fats and replacing them with the good ones.

Get rid of any fried foods, processed foods that are full of additives and preservatives, or those foods that are full of empty calories. Foods such as cakes, cookies, pies, cupcakes, candy, soda pop, fried foods, potato chips, and other snack foods offer no nutritional value and a whole lot of fat. These should not be a part of your eating plan ever!

Do focus on the right types of fats as they are not only a good replacement, but they can also help with cancer prevention. By focusing on “good fats” that are high in Omega-3 fatty acids, you can lower your cholesterol and blood pressure levels, increase your heart health, prevent cancer, and overall lead to better health.

Those foods that are good fats and therefore high in Omega-3 fatty acids include:

  • Salmon
  • Tuna
  • Olive Oil
  • Avocado
  • Walnuts
  • Almonds
  • Flaxseeds

Plant Based Nutrition and More Fiber

Many experts will tell you that a plant based diet can be your best friend in cancer prevention. This is because the food comes from the Earth and is therefore not weighed down with additives and other potentially cancerous substances. It is also because a plant based diet is full of fiber and therefore keeps your body running properly.

Having ample amounts of fiber can be fundamentally helpful in preventing certain types of cancer such as stomach and even prostate. Not only that but fiber will ensure that the food goes in and the waste goes out without anything being left behind in the process. Plant based nutrition offers excellent amounts of fiber and happens to be good for you overall.

Foods such as fresh fruits and vegetables and of course beans and legumes are a bit part of this type of nutrition. This ensures that you are getting healthy natural food as it was meant to be and yet not taking in too much animal fat or other potential carcinogens.

More Cancer Fighting Nutrients

There are some foods that are directly linked to the prevention of cancer. Within them they have ingredients that have a great link towards cancer prevention. These foods are rich in antioxidants which can help in prevention and in long term health. An antioxidant not only helps to boost your immune system but also fights off any toxins, germs, or other foreign substances that may enter the body. Antioxidants happen to be particularly helpful in the prevention of cancer.

The “super foods” as they are referred to can be of great help with the cancer fighting nutrients and antioxidants that they offer. The list includes certain gems such as:

  • Broccoli
  • Tomatoes
  • Blueberries
  • Dark Leafy Green Vegetables
  • Spinach
  • Raspberries
  • Apples
  • Beans
  • Mango
  • Oatmeal
  • Lentils

Knowing that cancer prevention is as close as your own kitchen can really change the way that you do things. Making these simple changes is effective and a great way to ward of cancer and ensure long term health.

  1. This program seems to be very specific as to health first and nutrition second. So anyone can understand what they need to eat to accomplish losing their fat wether it be 20lbs or a 100lbs. I feel that I have finally found a program that my husband and I can successfully accomplish.uh

  2. I joined trimdownclub after a Dr’s visit – High blood pressure, high cholesterol, very high triglycerides. During my visit my Dr. told me that one of her male patients has cut his cholesterol levels in half and one of the things that he did was to eat at least two kiwis every day. He also used a lot of cinnamon. I have added these two items into my diet. I always loved white bread, but have discovered that 100% whole grains and whole wheat breads are so much more filling and I have learned to love it.

  3. I’ve only been on the Trim Down plan for a week and I can already feel benefits and have already lost 4 pounds. I could probably live without eating meats as I love vegetables. Learning what to avoid and what to have plenty of is helping me tremendously because I am 64 years old and grew up in the south eating “soul” food where the method of cooking was frying first and foremost. I need new habits and new ways to prepare the foods I love!!
