Can anyone enlighten me on the “fruit juice shake”? I do not find a recipe on the site for it. Is this available in local grocery markets or health food stores? I would prefer to make it myself, however.

Hi, Karla. It has its advantages and disadvantages, and so can be used in moderation. You can read more about it here: https://www.trimdownclub.com/the-coconut-craze/.

Is Coconut milk a bad fat choice?? There are so many yummy recipes that call for it, but the fat content is high; is it a bad fat?

Ossie: Can I get an exchange list from you ?

Deborahjjhayes 12 years ago

You need to ask Ossie for the link to the exchange list. It helps me considerably every day! Also on the menupage when you have finished making your choices there are little arrows that you can hit to show you a list of what you could change it for if you don;t like something on the list!! Handy ,huh? If I can help you let me know! Debbie PS I hate Kale!!lol

Hi, USA444. That is indeed a great product. Keep in mind that it is essentially a source of carbohydrates (1/4 cup is equal to one exchange or a slice of bread, etc.). It is recommended that you eat it with a source of protein, i.e. milk or yogurt, as well as fruit to make a breakfast. The serving sizes, of course, depend on on your nutriional needs, which the system calculates based on your gender, height, and weight.

Can we substitute an organic, no GMO granola for breakfast?

Hi, Karla. I don’t have access to your account, but the Menu Planner is what puts together menus based on the foods you selected. That is the most reliable method to get a sample menu.

karlaPreston 12 years ago

Sharon, would you be able to provide me with a sample menu for a day, based on the foods I have indicated in my diet?

Hi, Karla. Those foods are excellent, and you do have the right idea about the point of the program. Ultimately, your body will tell you if you’re on track, but so far, it sounds good.

i haven’t been using the TrimDown menu planner the past two weeks and I’m not sure if I’m doing ok without it or not. Am I right in assuming the premise of this program is to keep the body fueled throughout the day with the right balance of fat, protein and carbs with each of the 3 meals and 3 snacks? Some of my typical ingredients include: green shake, shredded wheat cereal, oatmeal, SWG bread, peanut butter and banana sandwich, boiled eggs, salmon, chicken, almonds, fruit, spring mix salad, greek yogurt, 1% or almond milk, hummus, rice crakers, lecithin granules, flax/hemp seed, coconut oil. Is this the right kind of food to create a regular menu with?

I found the menu planner offered me ingredients that I’m not too familiar with, but the above are staples in my kitchen.

Thanks for any advise or meal suggestions.

Hi, Karla. Overall, it has lots of vitamins, minerals, and fiber. Nice.
If you use the almond milk it is low in protein, so the 1% milk may be a better choice since the shake is quite high in carbs. It is also very low in fat, so if it is a replacement for an entire meal, I would suggest to add some flaxseed meal or something similar.

shake consists of:
Large handful of spinach, leaf or two of kale, 1/4 cup plain greek yogurt, 1/2-whole banana, 3/4-1 cup of frozen mango chunks, 4-6 strawberries and a cup of 1% or almond milk.

Hi, Karla. Yes, all of those ingredients have a certain amount of carbs. How balanced the shake is depends on the amounts of each, and how much fat is in the yogurt. If you have a sort of recipe, or even just a sense of how much goes into the shake, I can do a quick calculation.
