![]() | Hi Ozzie, |
![]() | Hi Ossie and thank you for your quick reply. I have another question, this one being about honeymustard. It shows up quite often as a condiment on my menus. Is there a particular brand that you could recommend or should we be making it ourselves? It seems like most of them I see on the shelf are very high in fat, among other things. |
![]() | Hi, Doryssb. Uncle Sam cereal would be “Breakfast Cereal, bran-based”. |
![]() | Hi Ossie, |
![]() | Hi, Brenda. You can substitute your beans and peas for any of those in the recipes and in the Menu Planner (except, of course, green beans, which are very different). The other vegetables you mentioned are present. As long as you eat lots of vegetables, it’s all good. |
![]() | I have just stared this club, i’m still learning |
![]() | Hi, RWhite3. Have you read through all the online guides here? They provide a lot of eating tips and other good information. |
![]() | Guess You could say I’m a bit disappointed so far with the Club. I was expecting more as far as Eating tips. Of course I have just been recording for a Week, so I guess I need to be more Patient. Thought it would be more detailed as for potion size. Will give it more time may by then, dietician will be on line. Thank You for letting Me grip??? |
![]() | Hi, ksprietsma. Sorry to read you are not feeling well. I think soups are the answer! If you’re not well, you probably don’t want to cook anything too fancy, but you can just make simple fresh items on your menu planner (meat or alternative, starch, vegetable) and puree one or all in combination with broth, and it goes down very, very nicely and ensures you get some fluids in, too. Don’t skimp on the vegetables – they will help you fight whatever it is you have. |
![]() | The secret I find is preparing a big recipe when making something. Quiche for instance,we make enough in a pie plate for 6-8 servings. Soups can be made to last the whole week as one does not have the same thing on the menu every day. Today we are roasting a 10 lb.turkey.This way shopping is easy once a week.Plan your menus on Sunday so that you know exactly what you need ,then go shopping Monday. Hope this helps. |
![]() | Thank you very much Ossie! I really appreciate you getting back to me and answering all the questions I threw at you. I find this site amazing having the support and guidance really makes healthier eating achievable. I feel so much better and the other day I went out for lunch with friends and I did not over indulge and picked healthier choices. Do you have a suggestion or tricks for eating while sick? I caught a nasty cold and I have only really eaten a few slices of bread since yesterday… I was doing so well so this cold really put a hold on my healthy eating. Thanks again, you are so amazing! |
![]() | Hi, Lohackett. Sounds like you are right on track! |
![]() | Hi Ossie, the fact that we have to count carbs. and give ourselves the right amount of insulin is important to me. I have a pump and my husband uses a needle. So carbs are important. I don’t follow to the letter every meal but I do use right eating and right amount, is that alright? |
![]() | The swapping you are talking about is just fine. As for the recipes, try the ones with “classic,” “simple”, or “basic” in the names – these are much quicker. You can also cook simply without the recipes – just use the healthy cooking principles in the online guides, and take advantage of “free” (fat-free and sugar-free) seasonings. |
![]() | Hi Ossie, Another question… Thanks very much for your support and Have a great weekend. Kaylee |
