See if you can find Ezekial bread in the freezer section at the grocery. It’s delicious!

I found out that the bread is made from a combination of wholemeal barley flour and a lesser amount of wheat flour, together with malt and yeast, no oils, no sugars, not too bad I suppose…

Hi NIk, if you go to the right hand of the item on the menu there is a little icon. If you click on it,it gives you a new alternative list of foods you can swap with. You can even go to another day and use that menu choice because its not written in stone just a way of getting you to think about what/how and when you eat.

Thank you for your help!
Just another question- if I want to have something off of the ‘this weeks recipes ideas’ how do I know what to swap it with on my planned menu for the week??

Hi I can buy SWG bread from a local health food shop. It always seems to have a really long shelf life on the packaging but I am told it goes off quickly once opened. So I slice it and put the slices into the freezer so I can pull one out at a time. I know it is a lot better for me than the lovely long white baguette but it sure does take some getting used to.x

Regarding freezing – absolutely! In fact it is recommended for best preservation, as the best breads don’t have much by way of preservatives.

Hi, cleochara. Try Pandora’s bakeries – their “brown” breads (examples: 1. http://pandorabakeries.com/index.php/bread/brown-bread/traditional-cyprus-brown-wholemeal-bread-with-sour-dough.html; 2. http://pandorabakeries.com/index.php/bread/brown-bread/multicereal-german-brown-bread.html) and even this packed bread (http://pandorabakeries.com/index.php/bread/packed-bread/soft-danish-sliced-bread.html) are good alternatives.

Hi both thanks for the advice, I will check out the ingredients next time i go the the bakery and will see if I can find SWG on line and how easy it is to get it delivered to Cyprus!

Thanks, Denise!
Cleochara, if the barley bread is made with whole grains and doesn’t have hydrogenated fats or high-fructose corn syrup, it’s great.
