![]() | I feel empowered. Now I know how to shop and plan a menu. I have always been a good cook but never motivated. Today I shopped for the first time using my menu planner shopping list and I didn’t leave the grocery store with a bunch of junk food. I think I am going to like this program. |
![]() | Hi, Mitherhen. Many of the recipes are in the Menu Planner (the are listed with a covered dish icon). We will be adding more in the future, but in the meantime, if you want to use a menu that is not listed, just select something similar (in the same or similar food group) in the Menu Planner, and swap it out. |
![]() | Hi Ossie-Sharon thanks for the link, just trying to get my head round the menu planner. If I see a recipe I like how do I get that in my planner for the day? |
![]() | Thanks Donna – what is the stevia sweetener in Asda called ? I couldn’t find it only makes that say based on or derived from stevia but also contain a load of chemical too. Is it with the aspartame type sweeteners? |
![]() | Hi, Mitherhen, and welcome! Most of the foods are the same in the UK, but are lesser known to many people. This is part of their advantage in that they are not mass-produced and so are less manipulated and more nutritious. Try this link to learn more about some of the foods (use the search function) http://www.goodnessdirect.co.uk, and this link for more shopping resources https://www.trimdownclub.com/where-to-buy-uk/. |
![]() | thanks Donna I think you are right I realise I have ticked too may foods – even those I have no idea what they are in an attempt to be ‘up for trying it’ but it simply resulted in me having a meal planner that looks so alien I almost felt like giving up before I started! So I am going back to the drawing board tonight and just tick the foods I know etc and begin to look over the site, menus etc in the mean time! |
![]() | Thanks Donna! Good tips. I now have two no meat days a week and no longer feel hungry. Lost 13 lb so far in two months! |
![]() | hi i am from uk been on plan 2wk now. asda sell the stevia sugar substitue . holland & barratt health shop also stock some ingredients but make sure it one of the larger stores my local deals more with supplements. not even attempted the swg bread i use brown pitta breads & brown soda bread also from asda. try to stick to simple choices on menus till you get your head round it all trying to fit recipes in while still reading up on the plan it hard to fit into family life, gradually introduce a recipe when you know you are doing a food shop then you can everything to hand to reduce waste. good luck. |
![]() | Sorry meant to say thanks |
![]() | Hi everyone, I am a brand newbie and haven’t started yet – think its gonna take me a few days to figure out my menu planning shopping etc!! One question ( actually I have a zillion, but one, ok 3!! for now – 1) I get that I select the foods and then menu planner plans me meals and I can then swap any I don’t fancy but is there a way of looking at the recipes and from there ask the ones I fancy to be included in the weeks planner? 2) I am a UK member and wondered if there is a food name translator as some of the names are not familiar with foods in UK 3) has anyone developed a uk list of shops where we can get the recipe ingredients? So many questions… Bit overwhelming at mo!! :-/ |
