Hi, JohnSanady. We do recommend plain yogurt, as the pre-flavored type generally has too much sugar in it, which can work against your efforts here. You can flavor plain yogurt yourself with fruit or flavor extracts plus a natural no-calorie sweetener like Stevia, erythritol, and/or monk fruit. That sort of combination turns it into something of a superfood.

I do not see anywhere that it has to be plain yogurt, which was my assumption. Can we have flavored yogurt?

Hi, Fuzzy48. Yogurt is generally a good choice, especially if it has “active cultures” or “bio” on the label. To make the best choice, check the ingredients to make sure there aren’t artificial sweeteners (such as saccharin, cyclamate, sucralose, acesulphame K) – options like Stevia, erythritol, and xylitol are fine. Also, low-fat or full-fat yogurts tend to be a bit better.
