Any oil, especially a saturated type such as coconut, should be used in small amounts as seasoning or for cooking. Then what benefits it has may outweigh the downside. Certain medical conditions (epilepsy, liver disease) may benefit from the medium-chain triglycerides in coconut oil, but large amounts are not likely to benefit most people. |
