Also, this recipe made 4 servings…so I have lunch for my husband tomorrow, as he takes his lunch to work.

I have to also think about feeding my husband. He is pretty easy to please and likes healthful food, but he wants it to be very tasty. Any eating plan has to work for both of us.
Tonight on the “other” plan was a delicious meal of Beef Stroganoff with wilted kale and peppered egg noodles. The dish uses very little oil, and grape seed oil is recommended, but you can use olive oil if you like. The meat was a very lean top sirloin filet, but you could use chicken if you like the price point. I like kale, but didn’t have any on hand, and the dish was delicious without it. The sauce is made from the sauteed meat sliced very thin with onions, crushed garlic, Dijon mustard, herbes provance, 1/2 cup of red wine,(can use more chicken broth if no wine) mushrooms, chicken broth (I use organic). Add a little light sour cream at the end, and spoon over whole wheat egg noodles. Sorry… but I think pasta mostly white. Whole wheat pasta is kind of like dark white flour to me. The entire dish, if you used the kale came to 600 calories per serving. Mine less…I had even smaller serving than they recommended. This dish was at the high end of the calorie range for the menu plan, but you can always eat less. Very healthy and absolutely delicious, and took 30 minutes to make! This is an example of how you can change things up or leave things out. Of course, when you eat a 600 calorie meal you need to think about what else you have had to eat that day. this is an example of the easy food that is working for me.I also have been to our health science department at our local college, and for 25.00 had my resting metabolism done…so I have an idea of how many calories I can eat in a day and still loose weight.

Thank you Ossie. I am wondering about Stevia. It took me a month cold turkey to get off of artificial sweeteners. It was like coming off of crack! Disclaimer..I have never been on crack, but it could not have been worse. That was a year ago, and I have gradually gone back to some sugar. I think I read somewhere that as bad as sugar is…we are much more biologically adapted to sugar and honey since it has been around for so long. I have read that Stevia is banned in Europe, but I’m not sure that I am remembering that correctly. Anyway, is Stevia a lot sweeter than sugar, and what is your take on Stevis vs some very limited sugar/honey.

No worries – all of the foods on this plan are available in the UK. If you are very busy, the easiest solution may be to order delivery online (links below). As for raw dairy, organic fortified products (without added milk solids) are just fine. Overall, you have the right idea – that the plan is mostly about eating unprocessed foods with smaller portions and getting adequate exercise.
Melanie – if you have specific questions about nutrition, feel free to post here, and we will get back to you.

Hi I’ve only just joined up however for me I will use the menu planner as a guideline, the main purpose will be to ensure I have the correct mix of protein, carbs, fat and vegetables with my meals. I don’t think it will be essential to use exactly the same ingredients to get a good result. For me at least I will use normal butter or soft margarine with no hydrogenated fats and skimmed or semi skimmed milk. Trying to source the exact ingredients in the planner would make this unworkable.

I agree. Too many weird foods. Raw milk and raw butter?? Who has access to this except people who live on a farm. Also many of the foods listed are not accessable in my area and I don’t live in a small town. Wish I had know before I ordered it. I am going to try to use the things I have that will fit in with the carbs they have listed.

I am doing another program too. I mentioned it on here before, but I think they deleted it. I have been doing “Fresh 20” for a year. I joined this program as a New Year’s resolution to augment my current program, and add the online community help, motivation, and nutritional advice. Some of you may like the “Fresh 20” meals are designed to be nutritionally well balanced and a good calorie range. They recommend organic food (but not raw milk and stuff), but you don’t have to buy organic meat and veggies. They leave that up to you. You can buy your foods at a farmer’s market, or grocery store, or where ever. It is designed for busy people to get a healthy, EASY,gourmet, low cal meal on the table. I joined, because I am busy and have trouble with the night meals. This program is only for night meals and 5 days per week, you are on your own for breakfast, lunch, and weekends. I can handle that. The meals build on each other, so you can use left overs and some make ahead for week (not much). You only buy 20 ingredients at the grocery store with their shopping list. It really is easy. If you don’t like an item-it is very easy to replace, and they recommend replacements. It is normal food and good! Chef designed, but researched nutritionally. You can pay for vegan, vegetarian, or classic menus. The cost for me was 24.00 for the year with groupon. With membership you have access to all of their archives of menus for any year. You can also choose how many servings on your menus. So if you don’t really care for one weeks menu, you can go into the archives and pick something else. I choose 4 person menus, so we have left overs for lunch. You have to maintain a pantry-which is not big deal-because most of the items are staples for most people. You can check out the site on line. You really don’t even have to think-just go get the twenty items and cook!

I quite agree with you Melaine. I am older than you and should have had more sense than to subscribe to this so called diet. I have neither the time or spare money to do this. I will go back to the good old fashioned way I was brought up and eat good food in smaller portions. Wish I could get a refund.

hi ladies, a few of us are meeting up in a thread in Nutrition 2013 Newbies, most of us there so far seem to be brits

Oh dear, I knew I should have thought about it longer! Are there any Brits on this diet in Britain that is? I find some of the foods alien or at least cannot think what they could be in Britain – Help.

I’m starting to feel the same. Certainly the menu planner will not work for me. There are too many unknown and expensive foods on the list and I’m not getting the feedback back I ask for.

Having said that there are enough foods on the shopping list that I enjoy, and the recipe section is very good. I have decided to plan my own meals choosing from the healthy shopping list and see how it goes.

I am in my 50s and have been on enough diets in my life to know that crazy or stringent diets are not the way to go. I joined for the motivation of the online community and help from nutritionists. I did not realize I would have to pay extra for the nutritional advice. The foods do not match up well, it ends up being very expensive in crazy foods that I know I am not going to stick with, and too much time spent on figuring out how to make the eating part work! Eating healthy, good tasting meals should not this difficult. So I don’t need the meals…the online reply is lacking…I don’t like having to pay more for nutritional advice…long story short waste of money for me.
