Hi, hollylindfors. Some of the foods are included to enable an easier transition rather than cold turkey that can shock and discourage. The next step is to select the foods you want from food lists in the full Menu Planner application, and gradually upgrade the foods in your pantry as they run out (rather than throwing away food).
The foods listed in the menu are intentionally generic so that you prepare them as you like. You are encouraged to reference our recipe collection for ideas.

for a snack you recommend a sugar free cookie. Are these the cookies you buy in stores?
each day gives you a menu. so fro dinner it say salmon. but it doesn’t suggest a recipe for the salmon. that is the most difficult issue for me, i.e. coming up with recipes that include the “menu” items.
