Ossie-Sharon 11 years ago | Spelt is a type of wheat, and a great source of fiber, protein, and vitamins. Not everyone is sensitive to wheat, and it can be healthy for most people. Pearl barley is too refined for us to recommend (bran is removed). Hulled barley is better. |
johnwallace 11 years ago | Hi, I just want to ask what the guidance is on home made bread made with Spelt? I know that wheat is not good, but wholegrain spelt is published as a healthy alternative by some. Spelt is an ancient unmodified medieval variety of wheat, but of course still is wheat, is there any guidance on whether this should still be considered along with the modern varieties or is there a difference? Also, I use Pearl Barley as an alternative to rice in some risottos etc. is that a good or a bad thing? |
