| | Thanks, Penny! Liz, another way to look at it is 240 ml if it is a fluid. However, note that solid foods have a range of weights for each “cup” – you can see some examples here: https://www.trimdownclub.com/exchanges-lists. |
| | 1 cup = 8 fl oz UK |

| | Hi, Brenda. Some information in my previous response to swellmel was directed toward you as well – some great resources in the links I provided. |
| | Hi, Brenda. Many of the foods are called the same thing in the UK, or at least something similar – for example, Indian Game is actually the British name (in other countries, it is called “Cornish Game Hen”), and sprouted whole grain bread is simply sprouted wheat, spelt, or seed bread (see example here http://www.everfreshnaturalfoods.com/shop/sprouted-bread), and basic whole grain is referred sometimes as wholemeal. Many of the foods are less well known in general (such as quinoa and green wheat/freekeh http://www.everfreshnaturalfoods.com/shop/sprouted-bread), which is part of their advantage – because they are less mass-produced, they are less manipulated and so more nutritious and supportive of healthy weight maintenance. To find them, you can use this guide here: https://www.trimdownclub.com/where-to-buy-UK. At least one of the sites, http://www.goodnessdirect.co.uk, has brief explanations of all the foods. |
| | This seems too confusing to me. I wish I would not have paid the money already. I am going to look through all of this stuff but do not know if it is for me.I like keeping things simple. |
| | Just joined today and am very overwhelmed. One of the main problems is reading such a lot of material |
| | Joined on the 3rd. Had a big picnic yesterday, the 4th and I decided I am not starting this plan till today! Overwhelmed when I looked at all I had to read!! Plus try to get around the site. So today I am trying to get familiar with the web site, and printing out 3 of the booklets, so that I can sit on my recliner to read an highlight areas of interest. I am 61 years old and took care of my daughter for 32 years whom has Severe Cerebral Palsy and now is in a residential home ( close to me) an I decided that its time for me to focus on myself. I need to fix myself so I feel good in my body! I have 60lb to loose. |
| | Hmmm, just about to start, as paid the money!! Hate wasting money so have to do. Have some of the food in cupboard, other ingredients don’t recognise – do we have them in England? So, Ruby, I too feel a bit overwhelmed Too much info to take on board. Need to lose weight, perhaps can swop some foods for others? However, if I want to lose this weight, up to me!! |
| | I found that my first menu was a nightmare to shop for so I got what I could and spend lots of time in the supermarket aisles noticing what I could buy. Then I went home and re-chose my carbs/dairly etc etc and only ticked those things I could currently get and hey presto it worked! Keep lots of spices and herbs for adding extra flavour and if you can’t get nectarines then buy pears instead – it’s not going to blow the whole diet. As you get used to it you will become more adventurous in your ingredients and when you get more time (and money – I founf the starting out expensive!) you can look in the health food shops and online for ingredients you can’t get in the supermarket. I do agree that the preparation is a killer but try making in bulk and freezing what you don’t use and then you can have it next week without the preparation. Also make some dressings/sauces at the beginning of the week and keep in a tub to add to your pasta/salad/cous cous etc. Tupperware is our best friend!! |
| | Hi, rojiwinter, and welcome! This program is designed for people just like you, and allows for flexibility and planning according to your preferences. You will find quite a few people your age working toward the same goals in the Groups as well as on these boards. |
| | i want to join but am sczred I will not stick to this as I am 70 years old |
| | Am also overwhelmed but I have done it before so I can do it again! I don’t know why I seem to be so overwmex this time but I will get out of it. Perhaps I just need a little more support and encouragement. I know that you can do one thing…… even if you just go the store and decide to get things for one meal it will be good for that day!!! Try it and if you can let me know! I know you can do this! |
| | Hi, I just joined the club. I’m overwhelmed as well, but I know that is worth it. I wanted to run at first, but when I started to dig deeper I realized its a good approach. I always believe knowledge is the power. Also, there are groups with wonderful people who are willing to help. I had a pleasure to correspond with Debbie who gave me great advises. I always want to change things overnight, which is not always possible, especially when it comes to lose weight. As long as I move forward I’m closer to my goal and that’s what I need to focus on. Ok 🙂 now is the time to convert this idea into action… haha |
