Hi, Juls5drivertraining. Other than algae-based supplements, you can get omega-3 from the following foods:
– seaweed
– omega-3 fortified eggs
– omega-3 fortified milk
– chia seeds
– flax seeds
– walnuts
– hemp hearts (seeds)
– mustard seeds and oil
– canola (low-erucic rapeseed) oil, please – organic only
– winter squash
– leafy greens such as kale, broccoli
– mango
– honeydew melon
– cantaloupe
Nearly all of the above – except for algae, eggs, and diary milk, which feature DHA and EPA – feature primarily alpha-linolenic acid, which is an omega-3 but a precursor to the DHA and EPA that get all the credit. The body’s ability to make the conversion depends on several factors, including overall diet: if you don’t overdo omega-6 fats, you have a better chance.
