Thanks for clearing my misapprehensions up about the reasons behind not recommending Agave, Ossie

Hi, SLDURFEE. We don’t recommend agave because it encourages fat accumulation and is hard on your liver – it can really work against your goals here. Natural maple syrup is definitely preferable. Just keep in mind that unlike Stevia (as well as monk fruit and inulin sweeteners), syrup has carbohydrates.

Hi SLDURFEE Agave is not recommended either, I would imagine any of the natural syrups like maple and date syrup would fall into the same category as Agave. As far as I understand it the reason stevia and monkfruit are the recommended sweeteners on this plan is to do with their values on glycemic index. This plan is based on a good diet for a pre-diabetic or diabetic person.

I’m confused about maple syrup. Agave & stevia are ok, not natural maple syrup? I don’t mean stuff like Mrs Butterworth’s, I mean all natural maple. Why?
