![]() | Hi, Cathy, and thanks for the menu you sent. Other than the likelihood that some of the ingredients are refined/processed, there is definitely something to work with there. What I suggest is that you select foods in the Menu Planner lists that are similar (i.e., a roll and cold cuts for the sandwiches, soups, oatmeal, etc.), and though what is generated may not be exactly what you get in the dining room, it will give you an idea of good portion sizes. In addition, when you have a choice of more than one item (i.e. a ham casserole or oatmeal), you can make the healthier choice – a good portion of oatmeal, and a tablespoonful of the casserole to taste taste (if you want it at all). You can do the same for mixed dishes – for example, if you select an egg dish in the morning, you can eat more of the egg and leave most of the sausage, or at lunch or dinner eat a portion of the meat and leave most of the gravy, etc; for starchy items like potatoes, rice, or pasta (these are likely to be white/refined), try sticking with half or less of what they serve (if you want any at all). If you can get any whole grain products, that is best, of course. |

![]() | You asked me to send a menu but I don’t know how to do that through this site. I can email a scanned copy or fax it. |
![]() | Hi, Cathy. Portion control can be a very valuable tool here. Are you already provided both meals and snacks? If so, this is also a major built-in help. If you want, you are more than welcome to |
![]() | I live in a home where our meals are prepared for us so I don’t have any say in the menus. How can I still follow your program? |
