Hi, mrssvt44. Sorry to read. By the way, if you are on pain medications, steroids, or muscle relaxants, these can make weight management very difficult, and steroids in particular can put one at risk for diabetes.
What I recommend is to replace the starchy foods in your menu with green vegetables as much as possible – it doesn’t have to be 100%, but every bit helps. Additionally, the higher the quality of meat the better, i.e. pastured animal products in particular can make a notable difference. Try using seasonings as much as possible – fresh herbs, spices, and related items such as garlic work against inflammation inherent in injuries, as does green tea.

I fell in a store a few weeks ago, around the time I joined TDC so my exercise is restrictive. I just finished working on my Wii fit plus my PT is a lot of exercise. I never had to diet before, I have always been a healthy eater. Because excessive weight gain has never been my problem its like this happened overnight. I am more frustrated than anything. This excessive weight gain has me in a pre-diabetic stage and I refuse to let that happen. I need guidance. So for dinner I am eating baked tilapia, green beans and brown rice

Hi, mrssvt44, and welcome. Have you been on restrictive diets in the past? If so, it may take your body a little while to readjust to normal amounts of food again. A couple of more questions:
How long have you been exercising? If it has been a while, has it always been those specific exercises? A couple of things could be happening:
1. If the exercise is new, you could be trading fat for muscle, and muscle is heavier, so the scale won’t change though you may be getting in better shape – in this case, it is better to pay attention to how you look and how your clothes are fitting more than the number.
2. If you have been doing the same exercises for a while, your muscles may have become complacent. In this case, I suggest making a couple of changes to wake up some muscles. For example, insert bursts of intense walking (increased spead or incline) on your treadmill, i.e. 30 seconds every five minutes. You can also introduce some exercises that may even ease the back pain or strengthen muscles so you need your back less – you can get ideas from physical therapy.
If none of the above seems relevant, please do repost, and I will troubleshoot with you on menu adjustments.

I’m new to the club and am post menopause with severe back issues. I am walking on my treadmill and in physical therapy 3 x week. I document everything I eat and I have not lost a single pound. This is the hardest thing I have ever done because I have never been overweight. I have almost cut bread out of my food diary, and I only drink water. I’m a stay-at-home mom in grad school. I walk up and down the stairs as much as possible to get in extra exercise. PLEASE HELP
