Thanks for the tips. I will certainly try them. Also, I read about shakes/smoothies and will check the ingredients in my protein mix for added sugar. Forgot to mention, I do add a tsp of flax seed to my smoothie as well. Looking forward to more tips if you’d care to share.

Hi Montgom
I do double or more portions of a lot of my meals now. I usually keep one port for the next day or sometimes two if I’m going to be really busy. I freeze the rest in 2 portion containers. I do cook veg fresh where appropriate every meal as I believe that they have more nutritional value then. Potatoes used to be a problem because the amount I could have per serving seemed so small there didn’t seem a lot of point putting the oven on. I’ve solved that by cooking 2 or 3 days worth and reheating them either in the steamer with the fresh veg. or on my grill when I’m doing meat in it.

Hi, Montgom. Until other people chime in here, I just want to suggest that you ensure that you don’t eat more at dinner than you do during the other parts of the day. Your breakfast looks a little light, especially if you work out in the mornings. See if you can add some ground flax or chia seed to the shake (1-2 Tablespoons, too your taste), and add some nuts to your morning snack. Then be sure you order light at dinner, and if the portions are large, take a doggy bag home to save time on a future meal.

I have no time to cook breakfast so invented my own smoothie with lactose free skim milk, lowfat yogurt and frozen berries along with a scoop of protein powder. I also brownbag it for lunch with my homemade tomato based soup with vegies. I have fresh veggies with hummus or fresh fruit for snacks. Dinner 3 times a week is eating out (my husband and I don’t have time for food preparation). Has anyone tried making larger portions and turning them into homemade TV dinners? I spend 30 minutes every morning on my treadmill and lunch time I go to our company gym for a few laps, resistance training or Tai Chi. I’m 69 and would like to get down to my 40s weight so about 25lbs to lose. Any suggestions? Time is a premium.
