Rice is tricky, and the cooking time needed are very sensitive to location – altitude, air temperature and humidity, etc. The best thing to do is to taste it while cooking once in a while, and add water and time as needed.

I tried cooking the brown rice, but it seemed to need more time than the recipe said. It turned out kind of chewy. What am I doing wrong?
