| | Great news that in a few days you can get started on the road to recovery. Do keep taking the probiotics, and try to cut back on the Mountain Dew. Perhaps you can consider alternative therapy while you are waiting for test results. Please do keep me posted, and we can continue working on what you can eat. |
| | We did manage to get insurance through the new healthcare act. It does not go into effect until 4/1 I already plan on having some tests run. As far as the foods you recommend, I have tried all the foods you recommended and they are all a no-no after 3. Milk and cereal are hard to tolerate anytime, I am not lactose intolerant, Soups are a rare thing for me to eat, even if I make them homemade they tend to give me severe heartburn, have tried fruit smoothies, even mashed potatoes and apple sauce, homemade not store bought. Every couple months I try and eat after 3 and each time I have I have become sick. Sometimes it is as quick as 20 mins and sometimes it is 8-10 hours later, I will wake up in the night and be severely nauseated. When this happens I have to take medication to literally knock me out and I sleep the spell off. If I don’t do this and I start vomiting then I have to go to the emergency room and take shots to stop the vomiting, if I can prevent the vomiting then I will feel some better the next day, but it has taken a toll on my system. I was put on meds for chemo patients to prevent the vomiting when the attacks happen. Up until a month ago this was happening at least 1-2 times a week and sometimes I would be so sick I would be in bed for days 2-3 days in a row and I wasn’t eating after 3, you see, sometimes even the food I can eat makes me sick. Since the probiotics I have only had to medicate myself 3 times, I know that still sounds like a lot but the constant nausea has decreased significantly. One of the times was due to a medicine change for BP, the meds did not agree with me, so I only had 2 spells due to food. I don’t eat large amounts at a time, the amount of food that you list on the menu planner is a lot more food than I would ever be able to eat at a meal. I eat slow because it causes gas to build up under my rib cage. I stop eating usually within 10 mins, I can’t eat anymore because it starts to hurt. My breakfast is usually 1-2 eggs scrambled in Amish butter. a piece of toast and on occasion a thin slice of sandwich meat ham. Some days I can’t eat breakfast at all. I can tell by the way I feel that if I do I will be sick. When I do eat my 2 dogs wind up getting almost half of it though, the girls are mooch hounds. As far as the Mtn Dew, its not the carbonation, I have tried other soft drinks and they don’t agree with me. From Dec 1995 to Feb 2004 all I drank was bottled water, not the flavored kind, yuck can’t stand that stuff, the artificial sweeteners give me headaches. Then in 2004 My mother became extremely ill and I started waking up with what was like morning sickness. The water made it worse and I tried everything I could think of, but the only thing that helped was Mtn Dew. Within an hour or so the nausea was gone, the doctors said it was from stress. |
| | Hi, Brenda. I’m sorry to read of your experience, and wish I could say I was surprised. But no, just very, very disappointed. With regard to your insurance, have you registered for coverage under the Affordable Care Act? If so, are there possibilities there? Another option is to find a Chinese medicine practitioner (options in your area: http://acupuncturists.healthprofs.com/cam/state/Tennessee.html?gclid=CKDhq9XKsL0CFcuWtAod_moAcA). |
| | I have been this way since 2006. 3 episodes from March to November and then on Christmas eve 2006 it set in with a vengeance. It became so severe in 2007 that I lost 51 pounds in 2.5 months. Until 1 month ago I had not had a day and I am talking 24/7 , I would go to bed sick and get up sick that I was not nauseated either mildly or severely. We didn’t have any health insurance and couldn’t afford the tests. My family doctor has done everything he can do to help, but without the tests they don’t know what else to try. They have given me several different drugs and so far no good. I have changed my diet several times, still no luck. In 2010 a friend of ours told us about a clinic about 50 miles from us that was supposed to help us. The doctor they had at that time was a real jerk. She ran a few blood tests sent me home and had me come back in two weeks later. Gave me zantac for heartburn and told me they couldn’t help me because my problem was of my own doing because I was morbidly obese and undoubtedly wasn’t willing to do anything to help myself. She brought in the on staff gastroenterologist before I left and he concluded that it couldn’t be to serious since I had been sick since 2006 or I would be dead. I wanted to hurt them both, but God says to pray for people like that. So here I am after all the meds, antibiotics, steroids, etc I have gained the 51 pounds back plus. I am not diabetic, have heard of gastroparesis, but it is just certain foods and plus nothing after 3. As far as your question I don’t eat or drink anything after 3 except water. I drink a can of MTN Dew for breakfast, the rest of the day I drink plain water. Me and juices don’t get along very well. My day starts at 6 am I eat breakfast by 7-7:30 lunch between 12- 3:00 sometimes I eat a snack between breakfast and lunch and sometimes I don’t just depends on how my stomach feels. 3 weeks ago I started probiotics, They have helped some with the nausea but I still can’t eat after 3. Any help would be appreciated as far a diet recommendations. Thanks for the response |
| | Hi, Brenda. Hopefully you are being followed by a healthcare provider on a regular basis for your condition. It sounds rather serious, and if it limits you so severely, it seems it would call for a more precise solution than risking the rest of your health. Are you a diabetic? If so, were you told you have uncontrolled sugar and/or gastroparesis? Another diagnosis? In the meantime, please do cook all of your vegetables. |
| | I have stomach issues and can’t eat after 3 pm, what do you suggest as changes for my daily meal planner. If I eat after 3 pm I get seriously ill. I also have problem with green vegetables. I can eat small amounts of broccoli, cucumbers, lettuce, etc. but not several at one mealand definitely not after 12 noon. For some reason the fibrous material stays in my stomach to long and causes problems, so I don’t eat them after 12 noon. I don’t have a problem digesting starchy veggies as long as they are cooked really well This has on several occasions resulted in having to go to the emergency room to get shots to stop vomiting. So any suggestions you have would be greatly appreciated. I really need all the help I can get. My weight has skyrocketed and I don’t know what to do. Thanks Brenda |
