![]() | Hi, NeilP. You can just select regular meat – the exchange system will absorb the minor differences in nutritional value. |
![]() | Hi Thankfully there is virtually nothing I won’t eat. Celery is probably the only thing I am not keen on. Meat, fish dairy, crackers etc. nuts ..whatever I am not fussy about anything Happy with dehydrated meats…maybe add them to the list, I really don’t think I have seen them on. I have been through that list many many times now. If you see my weekly menus you will see I have created at least 10 and deleted them again, but you can see the menu numbers |
![]() | Hi, NeilP. First, we prefer food that is less processed than something like salami, if possible – even something like simple dehydrated meat would be better, as would be roasted nuts (salted, if you like that and don’t have a tendency to retain water) – these options are full of energy, and something you can always have around (even in your pack and/or vehicle) for days on end. The cheese and fruit are excellent, of course. Second, overall, what you posted is not really enough – do you like other fruits and vegetables? Do you eat other carbohydrates that you can take – such as crackers, breakfast cereal (you can eat it dry, too), or do you eat dairy? Third, you definitely do not need to continuously be shopping and cooking. I encourage you to just once take the time to go through the Menu Planner and see how many, many options there are for the type of meals you need. |
![]() | Tried to edit the previous, but no edit option, so looks like this reply will appear twice. Hi The problem with prep before I go out is that when I get a call to go to work. I have zero time to prepare stuff. The phone goes, a sick or injured patient needs flying out and I go. Time to pull on uniform and get to the aircraft. Yes I may have one meal or a snack or two ready to go, that I can just grab, but I can’t keep enough prepared for two days ahead and then take all of with me. I could take leftovers that will last for a day, or half a day, like three or four small plastic tubs, but that is about it. I have a “Tiffin” ..a metal stack of containers from India http://s3.amazonaws.com/cooltools_legacy/tiffin.jpg. I’ll take that if I can and I happen to know about the flight , but in the last week I have been able to use it once. And it is still only for the one day. But then taking leftovers…you break the menu plan. If I am then away for two days, ?? Really need a Single daily menu. I don’t mind eating the same every day for two or three days, all consisting of pre pack stuff or Apples If I wanted to make a single days “Menu” all from convenience foods, what would it be: Something like this is what I am after. could you change / adapt i/ add to it t for me to give me an idea Breakfast: Snack 1 Lunch Apple/ pear Snack 2 Dinner Snack 3 I just don’t think this way of constantly eating cooking and shopping is for me. Probably OK, if you don’t have interests outside the house and the kitchen, and the money to support buying this amount of food. I travelled New Zealand years ago, with a skinny mate. Our constant arguments were over stopping to eat. He wanted to eat all the time, rather like this plan. Over the six months travelling and living in the same car as we travelled, shopping and eating the same, he lost about 6 kilos in weight. I put on 8 kilo. I am prepared to try this plan, but not convinced. At the moment in the first week I have already gone up just over 1 lb on the electronic scales. |

![]() | Hi, Neil. The following are popular options for people in your spot – most requiring little or no prep, or can be prepared quickly before leaving your home: |
![]() | Yes, apples, pears etc for snacks, but main meals..? Any ideas? I can’t go armed with a suitcase of stuff and otherwise it is just sweet biscuits (cookies ) chocolate bars and ready made sandwiches . which is why I started putting font eh weight in the first place. Spending time in hotels and airport lounges drinking coffee and eating left over catering like pastries etc from exec jets 🙁 |
![]() | I agree Neil. Too much preparation for a busy life style. But I think we can substitute an apple for a less portable fruit. |
![]() | I have a rather ‘odd’ job. I fly the local air ambulance and when I am on duty I am on call 24 hrs for 3-6 days. I can stay at home doing my own thing, as I am only 15 minutes from the airport. But I don’t want to spend all of that home time making days worth of pre packs just in case. I have other ‘ flu in jobs’ too, video editing , running a stable yard. All of that has taken a big hit as it is, trying to keep up with the shopping and cooking and multiple eating stops this menu entails. When the phone goes, I can be away for 8-12 hours or up to a few days. If I know I have a ‘scheduled’ flight I can take a snack and maybe a meal with me in a plastic box, if I have had time to prepare. But I need ideas of things that I can pickup and carry with me. Stuff that is pre packed and ready to eat from the local supermarket or Fuel station / airport restaurant. I am trying the ” Menu planner ” planned menu. but I need to be able to drop that in an instant and just buy stuff on the go…Pre packed bars, salami sticks , “hard’ fruit like apples etc. Any ideas what I can take with me ? Needs to be stuff I can get ‘ anywhere’ and needs no prep. Maybe with evening meal suggestions from ‘standard hotel evening meal and breakfast menu’s |
