Hi, tennisball1. A fresh fruit smoothie can be a great option for or addition to a breakfast meal. How it is used depends a lot upon its composition. For example, if it is only fruit, then it would take the place of fruit, and perhaps also a carb if it is large; in this case, if should be accompanied by a source of protein and a good fat. If the smoothie contains sources of protein (i.e. dairy or substitute) and/or fat, then you can eliminate any additional items from those food groups at the meal.
