Hi, I’ve just joined and am finding the menus to be a lot of work. I work full time in an office with a fundamentally non-existent kitchen. The prep for bringing these snacks and lunch seems like a lot of work, separate containers for at least 7-10 items between a morning snack, lunch, and afternoon snack. How do folks in my position manage it.

Also, am wondering why there aren’t recommendations for brands of products – like the “waffle (frozen) all natural ingredients” – can’t the system offer names of approved brands so that it makes the shopping easier?

Thanks for your help –

Hi,

I have just signed up and am completing my menu options. However, I find that I have added far more than I normally eat to ensure all the bars are blue but it will not let me move on until the button is orange. I know I will not buy or eat some of the items added as we tend to eat very healthy options unless on holiday. Meat – wise we tend to eat free range chicken (weekly), the occasional low fat sausages, salmon (weekly)pork medalions (monthly) lots of vegetables – 5 or 6 each day, the same with fruit. Lunch tends to be an apple, an occasional banana and a roll only twice a week maximum. I make homemade chicken and leek soup with lentils, carrots, parsley and sometimes tomatoes or peppers. We don’t have puddings except fruit and have oat porridge with semi skimmed milk, decaf tea and croissants some weekends. Snacks tend to be an apple or tea with semi-skimmed milk. HELP, please!

Hi, Aldous, and welcome. The intention is for you to eat everything in that meal. If it is too much, don’t finish. No worries – it’s a good thing if you get in tune with your satiety signals. Just try not to eat much too little (rebound weight gain may eventually catch up with you!) and to get all the fruits and vegetables in at some point.

Hi there. I am an absolute newbie – just logged in today. There’s so much information and so many options – especially for creating menus – that it could be overwhelming. I’m taking it slowly.
My first question: in the menus, there are always a few different choices to eat. One breakfast option gives ham or poultry, cooked oatmeal, almonds and a banana. I’m assuming that I’d choose only one of the options, not eat all of them?

Hi, SandraMR. I’m happy to help. There is no specific tea allowance, as it is a “free beverage” (until you put in a high-carb sweetener or milk – these are counted in your menu). If you have any additional questions, please do repost here, and I can work with you.

Hi, Brema123, and welcome! There are many great mentors in the Groups area – the most popular is “Successful Beginnings”. If you need tech help, you can reach support through the “Contact Us” link below. If you have nutrition questions, I can help you in these forums.

Hi, Alexi, and welcome. There is a video tutorial when you first enter the Menu Planner application that may help. In a nutshell, all you need to do is go through each major nutrient/food category near the top of the page (carbohydrates, fats, proteins, etc.), and as you click on each, go through each of the subcategories on the left side of the page. Select foods you like for each meal (the healthiest are in the lighter blues) until all of the little bars under the meal headers are completely blue, and each of the major categories above have gone from gray to blue. We you have finished making your selections, click on “SAVE AND CREATE MENU” at the bottom right corner of the page – if it is still gray, go back to make an additional selection in whichever category/subcategory does not yet have the minimum amount of options chosen.
If you need additional assistance, you can reach tech support through the “Contact Us” link below.

I have just sighed up and want to lose 54 lbs. I am finding it hard to get round the site. Also can someone tell me how many to choose from each list, it is confusing. Alexi is pacing on the spot to get started.;)

Hi, LadyGolfer, and welcome! Yes – but do be sure to go through that process for each of the food groups listed near the top of the page.
There is a video tutorial that you can watch as you enter the application – if it is not quite enough, please do take advantage of our customer helpdesk (you can reach them directly through the “Contact Us” link below).

can someone explain how to get started. I just signed up. It said to pick 6 carbs. Do I pick from each meal and go down the left hand side list. Confused.

Hi jaxsav5,

Yes, please feel free to repeat your weekly menus 😉

jaxsav5 10 years ago

Can I just repeat the first week menu? I feel like I bought quite a bit and need to eat similar food so I am not buying a whole new set of food for diet. I liked the menu.
