Hi, issy50. It sounds like the ideal amount for you may be around 30 grams per day (the bottom of the recommended range). Note that the fiber picture is a little more involved than just the total amount. It is also important that you divide intake throughout the day and get plenty of fluid with it (i.e., a full glass of water or equivalent for each high-fiber meal).
Just as important, if you are starting out on a high-fiber diet (such as in the Trim Down Club program) and have not really had high-fiber intake before, it is important to gradually increase your intake to your goal – keep the lower fiber foods and upgrade to or add one high-fiber every couple of days. This means the switch from white bread or rice to 100% whole grain, cooked vegetables to raw, etc.
Then pay close attention to your body over the weeks – counting and comparing to your previous condition is very important.

i was told bye my dr. i need a high fiber diet. then i was told to much fiber will constipate me more. how much fiber use i be taking in every day????
