Wild game and “home raised” meat is much healthier than the store bought kind because nothing is added to them (salt, preservatives, hormones or antibiotics) and they are lower in fat and cholesterol. My family eats a lot of deer, and rabbit. I use the dear in any recipes that calls for beef. I find the deer to be kind of tough after cooking in the skillet or grilling, so I cook the deer in the crock pot with just water and spices. It turns out excellent, it is very tender. You can use it for beef & noodles, beef barbecue, fajitas, veg beef soup, quesadillas, beef & bean burritos, etc. Using 2-3 oz of that for one serving goes a long way!

My husband and I are hunters, and therefor eat a lot of wild game.. How does this fit in with the meal plan? I am curious about Elk and Deer meat in particular. Does anyone know how healthy it is or any recipes?
