What ALWAYS works for me is to take 1000 – 1500 mg of vitamin C. It is the only side-effect of getting too much of it. Loosens everything up within 24 hours. And I notice I have more energy when I take it daily. Good luck!

Hi, karenrandau. Are you also eating more fiber than you did in the past? Sometimes a major jump can ironically lead to constipation. If you think that is a possibility, try backing off on some of the high-fiber foods and then gradually reintroduce them – say, one per week. Also be sure to drink a full glass of water (8 fluid ounces or 240 ml) with each high-fiber meal.
If the problem is indeed protein and you do not have a problem with fiber, swapping out some animal sources of protein for plant sources may help.

I’ve been on the plan for a week, and I’m constipated – I’m following the menu exactly, but I’ve always had a problem when I eat too much protein. Any advice?
